Looks like Otakon is the convention to be at this year. Ah well, maybe they'll bring out a lineup this good next year too.

If you are comparing it to AX. I think you guys are getting some amazing guests too. I am especially jealous about Morio Asaka.
That being said this will be my first Otakon in 2 years and couldn't be happier with this year's announcements. However it is also probably the first year I've been going to Otakon where I am terrified of conflicts and not being able to see everything I want to.

I didn't mean to imply that AX's lineup is garbage. They do have some solid guests. However, from a personal enjoyment standpoint, I like the guests that Otakon has announced better. It's all a matter of personal preference.

Ai Nonaka and Lauren Landa are already slated to be there...looks like they'll have to call it "MadokaCon" this year!

Yeah, the guest lineup is great... if you're interested in Madoka Magica. I, on the other hand, am not, so the guest list is a waste.
Aya Hirano and Michael Sinterniklaas are the only worthwhile guests on the list, as far as I'm concerned.
I mean, GASHICON? Who's looking for her?

Gen Urobuchi just made Otakon a must for me. Was thinking the west coast was taking all the good stuff, until now.

On a personal level Otakon is never going to appeal to everyone but they do have two seiyuu that have nothing to do with Madoka (Aya Hirano & Tetsuya Kakihara)
On the Otakon boards they hinted they might have a director too & I expect another musical announcement.
As for all the Madoka announcements I expect Aniplex USA had a lot to do with that. We probably will be getting more industry guests to from Funimation & Viz.
As for Gen Urobuchi although he wrote Madoka, I think he is making a name for himself beyond that. He's definitely a big name to get even regardless of Madoka which was obviously a big hit.
Ai Nonaka has also been a lot of big properties recently.
