This works for single people with movies however having a nephew that likes to watch movies, there is no way in hell I'm letting use a disc I spent 25 dollars on. I'll make a copy of the dvd and let him use that instead and trust me there are lot of other people that feel this way.

You ask me politicians need to get it through there head that times have changed and these laws serve no real purpose.

Other than that the creators of such thing need to realize that if they just make a QUALITY product then people will pay. Hell i know a few guys whos very first anime purchase was the Fate blu ray. Yeah the 300 dollar one simply cause they liked it so much. So instead of churning out roughly the same movie every year try and make quality products and THEN people will buy it.

Stay the hell out of my country. USA laws are only for USA. I'll buy quality products any time of the day but how we deal things in my country should not change based on next door. They just need to bring better stuff on the market. This law encourages laziness from industries. :p

To sell things, you need better products and better marketing. :p

If you don't think something is good quality, why would you even want to watch it in the first place, let alone own a copy of it? No doubt that many people disagree with your opinion, because people do buy entertainment, and those are the ones supporting the industry.

As for government protecting the interests of business over those that want to copy, that is how it should be. An industrialized society favors the producers, not the freeloaders.

The United States is pushing the legislation to make copyright protection more uniform around the world.

They want to pass a bill that will be in effect in the entire world?

Here thought the US only have the right to pass bills in the US, how silly of me. Rolling Eyes

It needs to go both-ways but on equal ground. I am a a consumer of media and buy movies, books, cd's, games that I like all the time. As the consumer I'm supporting those producing the product keeping them in business because they have something I want.

Now here comes the tricky part, the industry needs to stop treating it's paying customers like shit, believe it or not with out us your industry will fade if choose not buy anymore. Forcing more and more contract binding laws to tell us what we can't do with something we legally purchased is bull.

If I choose to rip a cd/dvd or even a psp-umd I am doing it solely to have a backup in case something happens to that physical copy. Buying entertainment is an investment and I don't want to come short sided because some dick scratched my CD all to hell or lost my psp game. I am not buying something again that i already payed my hard earned money for, I realize that's a sense of entitlement however it's just the way I think.

I could go on for hours covering this issue but what is the point, this is where i stand, if you have any comments just throw me PM.

Disney is far from the only studio that does that. In fact, all the major studios do. Like Disney, it just depends on the title and version you are buying. I have many Disney movies without a digital copy and many from Paramount, Warner, and others that do.

The problem is that the discussion is not about two sides trying to find common ground, it's a discussion by two sides who have little do with the actual people effected by piracy demanding that their side is the one who effects things so you have movie corporations who barely lose money to piracy trying to demand archaic laws fighting with pirates who think that entertainment is cheap and easy to do demanding big budget games be given to them.

As for "If you create something really great than it will sell", that's not true and checking out the sales of video games, anime, and movies will tell you that's not true anywhere in the world. You will make more money selling a crappy cover shooter than you will make selling a really good SRPG.and the latest blockbuster action film by Michael Bay or Roland Emmerich will make a lot more money than some hearfelt film by a really good director.

That's the reason why Resident Evil stopped being about horror 7 years ago and started being about some guying mowing down zombies, and why you will probably never see another Ogre Battle ever again. Just look at the fact that nearly all of the upcoming adventure games where created by Kickstarter since there's no money to be made in adventure games.

Charred Knight, whatever your subjective values are that's not reflective of the opinions of everyone else. People reveal their values in what they actually choose, not even in how they answer surveys.

The good thing about the market is that despite others having different opinions than yours there is still someone who can profit by trying to provide what you like even if you aren't in the majority. This is unlike the way government works, where being in the 49.99% that lost gets you nothing.

"The producers" should be decided by consumers buying what they prefer, not by the state granting privileges to protect the interests of business. Businesses should serve their own interests by serving the consumer, not the state.

I really hate my government sometimes.
Freaking following the U.S. every time.

It's not like our national anthem says anything about our country, nope.
"Strong and Free" my rear.

You might get 1 or 2 games a year that actually caters to something I want, and not a mass deluge of crappy cover shooters starring some bald meathead with no personality.
