What does "obscene" entail here, uncensored? Otherwise unless it's child porn, why would anyone care how obscene, vile, or disturbing it is?

Some of the disgusting, horrible doujin I've read in my lifetime that have crushed my soul and made me lose hope in humanity weren't obscene, so either this guy is being used as an example, or it's a new level of junk.

I'd like to see something more obscene than if Kakumei Seifu and Fatalpulse teamed up, but I doubt this is that level of wonderfully grotesque. If they allow such things like we see at Comiket and on pixiv, this must either be something so beyond comprehension that it becomes a Lovecraftian horror onto itself, or the dude just was arrested on pure bullshit. I'm thinking the latter, and for something as lame as not censoring genitals. That obsolete and downright Victorian law has got to go. |

Pfft, lightweight. I also have to wonder what got this guy into trouble. The censorship laws in Japan aren't quite transparent. I want to know what constitutes as obscene here.
It's an illustration, so it obviously wasn't of a real human...But for the police to go after him, it must have been pretty graphic. Especially considering the amount of smut out there that is flung around without issue. Not that this isn't wrong, of course. If it wasn't harming a real human or animal, then I don't see the problem with selling them. Additionally, he was selling the images on a website. It's not like he was running through parks and giving them out to children.

I too am curious about the three so called "obscene" illustrations. Not saying I want to see the illustrations, but a description of what was depicted on them would help define what is considered obscene to sell as an illustration in Japan.

This would be my guess as well. Any genitals be it via photograph, video, or drawing need to have some sort of mosaic and/or black bar to censor them. |

Does that mean that showing pictures of penises or vulvas to demonstrate variation and decrease body insecurity would be illegal? To be clear, even if it only affects porn I'm opposed to such a law, but I was wondering? |

Yes sadly it's true. I take it you never seen Japanese porn. Because most of them are censored (as in genitals being censored). If you want to read more, here's something for you to read. |
