Having finished the anime series, I'm quite excited about this spin-off manga :>

While I'm always up for more GTO, part of me feels as if Fujisawa is using it as a crutch because of the tepid reception for his original works. Personally, I really enjoyed "Rose Hip" and "Rose Hip Zero" (what I read of it, at least), and I would love to see him branch out into new stuff. That being said, I'm still looking forward to this, as to GTO has to be one of my favorite manga series of all time (of course, I need to actually FINISH it, but regardless...).

Agreed. I love GTO, and also Early Years. 14 Days in Shonan is still good but it recycles ideas that Fujisawa's already used in the original run, which makes me feel like he'd be better off doing somthing new.

That said I didn't think Tokko was all that great, and I'd totally be up for reading this new manga from him anyway.

I wished he'd finish Tokko. It seems so.....incomplete.

Sweet! I hope at least 14 Days in Shonan is selling well enough for more GTO spinoff license considerations!

Id really like to get to the bottom of how well the early years is doing, I mean it cant be doing that badly if it keeps getting onto the top seller list right? unless its like manga is selling so badly 10 copies will get you there.

I've gotta imagine that itd sell better had they gone back and started at 1, i know tokyopop had already put em out but that was years ago and they've been out of print for ages.

One detail GTO: The Early Years (Shonan Junai Gumi) is not a prequel. It was originally published before GTO Great Teacher Onizuka.

A prequel is a work published after another work that tells of events predating that work.

The fact that it was published second here does not make it a prequel.

Thanks for putting up with my rant.
