Well I got some great news it's time for another monster epsiode so lets get right into this because this is quite the ride. Following spoiler are for epsiode 65 you have been warn. spoiler[Welcome back Nina where have you been all of life! As the epsiode begins we already see how nina has this hostile nature as she takes out two arm guards and holds them up. After which we see that tenma has been shadowing the apprentice of Johan, and tails him back to his hotel hoping to get to Johan. But look who shows up to ambush Johan Apprentice, EVA!!!! And now we can see that she has completely cross the line of no return to the point that she shoots him in the ear after failing to answer her question. Anyways back to Nina who is now meeting Capek and is on edge of killing him. For what I suppose for programming Johan and her into monster, but she stop and as Capek and Nina go to follow Johan. Back to Eva, the apprentice gets the drop on her and take her gun, as he prepare to shoot her Tenma comes around the corner, and we hear to two gunshot (they weren't silcenced) so we know that it was Tenma who shot. Well it looks like Tenma may have finally killed someone, unless they plan on doing a roberto again.] I can't wait for the next release of this series as I am hoping Johan and Nina will finally meet again, and then the party can begin.

In any case, I don't want to make any predictions, so I'll just wait to see how it turns out. This title will definitley be in my top 5 TV series when it's all said and done.
I can tell you that I have this series in my top 2 if not my #1 but I will have to wait for the conclusion before I pass that judgement.

Ok, you guys make this series sound really interesting so i'm interested in checking it out. I heard that the manga is going to be released here soon, and I was wondering if anyone has heard of any plans on the anime getting licensed? I'm really into this type of series so i'd love to check it out sometime!

This series is amazing, but to be honest it's not an action series, it drives on plot twist, and drama which I enjoy a lot! The first volume of the manga was just release not to long ago. As for someone licensing the series, no one has pick up this series from what I know of. But the Manga and I guess the anime (I am not entirely sure if its both) was purchase by New Line Cienma and is currently in development to become a full lenght motion picture. From what I know thus far the person who is doing the script is also responsible for the recent movie "History of a Violence" which was very good in my opinion, the way the press releases sound, it would appear that they are writing mulitiple movies.

I guarantee you will like this series if you're into psychological drama/crime/mystery titles with a lot of suspenseful plotwists.

The synopsis from the Encyclopedia sounds simple enough, but the way each episode is directed along with how well they flow together makes for a masterful story. The art, the music, the voice acting, and the dialogue all mesh in synchronization, with very little to no filler (as far as I can tell, since the anime was produced after the manga had been written to completion).

It's difficult to explain in words, as I don't want to spoil the story (where seeing it unfold is the fun part), so I hope you'll take my words into consideration (which you know are always truthful) and check this series out when you get the chance Wink.

Speaking of A History of Violence, I saw it a few days ago and was startled by how similar it was to Monster. Spoilers for the end of the series follow: spoiler[In Monster, the endgame takes place in a small town in the middle of nowhere. In AHOV, the setting is also a small town in the middle of nowhere. Both towns are happy, quiet places where everyone knows everyone else's name and there is little trouble. Both towns house a man with an awful past. Both men attempted to start a new life. The trouble for both men begins when someone they wronged in the past learns of their location. In both cases, men with guns enter the small towns and people begin to die. In Monster, the entire town becomes paranoid and suspicious, while in AHOV it is the protagonist's family. ]

Eerily similar, eh?

Ahh well looks who back, back again Monster back tell your friends.....Anyways the following spoiler go up to epsiode 66 so please refrain from looking if you don't want anything spoiled. Monster 66spoiler[Once again this is a brillant epsiode, I love how it was set up from beginning to end. First off we learn that Johan and Nina were born in attempts to create a higher human race, a la Hitler WWII when he force Aryan's to marry and have offspring together. That said this series has so many similar things that tie into hitler, I mean that Johan resemble him in many way. They were both children who's life were doomed from birth. Hitler's mom wanting to abort him, Johan being saved by the doctor. Also there ability to manipulate others to do terrible things, and also the fact that politicans are trying to get these two in power, and yet they have nothing but disgust for these people. Anyways back to the show, nice little piece where we see that Tenma and Eva are both ok. Can't say the same for the apprentice, but this is an interesting part where Eva has clearly crossed the line that seperate rational though, whereas Tenma really is still the Doctor sworn to fight till the last min. As illustrated by his care, for saving the apprentice life. Although that point may have been just to get Eva away from them. Back to Johan and Nina who are standing face to face for the first time in a while. This scene is brilliant bloody freaking brillant, Johan is standing on the second story of the house looking down at Nina with his face black out, Johan relates more story of how they both let the three frogs. Nina threaten to end it now, then Johan tells her what is the end, and it sheer brillant Nina tremble at the sight of Johan knowing what this end may be. Followed by Johan face coming into the light and now Nina says "I'll tell you a real story of horror" Damn these kids are really messed up, but there is still one thing that is troubling me I doubt Evalet this story end without her involved in one form or another, the question is how? I had originally assumed that Johan would manipulate her into trying to kill someone, Tenma?] Well once again the best show on TV has turn me around 180 degree and yet I prepare for the unknown future that lays before us.
Till next time,

Delta Kiral

BTW WHY HASN'T ANYONE LICENSE THIS SHOW YET!!!!!!!!

I dunno. But I can guess. I think because there so many episodes, therefore it must be really freakin expensive. The anime companies are not sure its marketable to the american anime crowd since so many are into the usual positive sterotypes of anime. Monster has no crazy fight scenes, fan service, fantasy/sci fi elements, outrageous comedy, etc. It will have to rely on word of mouth outside the "otaku" world.

But then again Monster can be marketed to a completely different crowd if the licenser is smart.

And if the live action movie by New Line is good enough, then you bet there will be a license.

That's pretty much it, it's just not incredibly marketable, not to the mainstream at any rate. Now it may be very well possible for them to market it to a different crowd if they were smart but the problem is the marketability isn't really proven. It's quite a gamble considering the episode count and the likely cost of licensing the anime.

On one hand they could license it and be successful, but the problem is there's no real certainty of success and the cost of failure is high. They could license it for awhile and try but should it fail and they drop the license without releasing every episode then they alienate a fanbase which is, frankly, unforgiving. The show is popular in the fansub realm as well which also poses somewhat of a problem as those who are interested in the series have the fansubs who's to say they will even buy the licensed product? When you have an anime aiming at the mainstream crowd it has certain marketability but when you aim at more of a niche market the hit you take on fansubs could make quite an impact.

Yea what the deal with that??? I've been into my local anime store at least once a week and still no monster. I mean what exactly is problem? Viz is already delaying 20th century, because they are honoring the author wishes to have Monster release first. I mean get it together Viz your pissing away a great franchise.

Well that basically is my opinion on this subject as well but I mean who knows if this project even makes it to the theater, that would still be like two years.

Well I am sorta with you there on the amount of epsiode but if you remember Hajime no Ippo (aka Fighting Spirit, this point was brought up by Tony K. in an earlier discussion) was licensed by Geneon (whom I thought would license Monster) and that series was 76 epsiode or so. I also think that price tag may have gone up for the anime series when the manga was bought by New Line Cienma. Well it appears we will have to wait and see how this all unfolds, damn I can't wait for the next epsiode....this series is so freaking amazing.

Alright monster is back again so once again spoiler through 67 so please refrain from looking until you have seen it. spoiler[ Another really powerful epsiode and things have finally become upside down on us. Well it appear that the monster really was nina to begin with, When Johan was taken to the mansion of red roses it was really Nina who was taken. Nina then told Johan about it and he took on her memories. Also Capek meets his end in this epsiode after telling tenma he told Johan where Franz son is. Also Johan partner was killed by Johan, also mentioning about collect a large sum of money. Toward the ends we Lunge in the town of Ruhenheim, where apparently Johan has some memory of that is not share or so what I think. I still think that even thought Johan is broken, there must be some sort ultimate end what that may be who knows. ] Once again another great show, can't wait for the next one.
