Many people who have seen H-anime probably know that the VA credits are usually either unlisted (often the case for Japanese VA) or aliases are used (often the case for English VA). So it's difficult to accurately identify VA's for these shows. But sometimes they are well-known normal anime VA's, and watching these h-anime can be amusing once these realizations are made.
Is anyone willing to help contribute or identify H-anime VA information? Recently for example I made the following hilarious discoveries for English dub H-anime VA's. The H-anime "F-Force" has a lot of well-known English VA's. Most notably, the main character "Ash" is voiced by Dan Green (Yugi Moto) who probably has the most distinctive male voice I've ever heard. The show credits him as "Frank Brown", hah. In ANN encyclopedia it has him credited as Frank Browm (this is a typo that occurs in the box packaging for F-Force but not in the credits during the actual show). Another well-known VA in that show is Veronica Taylor (Ash, May, Ash's mom, etc, in Pokemon) who does "Alicia". Syndi Snackwell and Sandy Snackwell are her H-anime aliases.  ;
Also in that same show, "Tanya" is done by Tiffany Vollmer (Bulma from Dragon Ball Z) but I dunno if she does any other roles or uses a regular H-anime alias. I suspect I've heard numerous other English dub VA in H-anime but I will have to re-examine them before I am sure. Another common occurence for English dub VA's is that the same H-anime VA will do many different H-anime, but use a different alias each time. So it would be useful to identify all the roles the "same person" has done. I dunno, does anyone else have interest in this? Maybe my post will just appear crazy and perverted, but I thought it was hilarious when I noticed "Yugi Moto" and "Ash Ketchum/May" doing H-anime characters. It could also be a good idea to abandon this pursuit because the VA's themselves might want this information to be kept somewhat private. Otherwise why use aliases. Still, I bet a lot of the VA's don't care (I doubt Dan Green cares...there were a lot of funny outtakes on the F-Force DVD). |

Um, correct if I'm wrong but isn't the reason some VAs have aliases for hentai dubs is because it'll get them in some sort of legal trouble.

Um, this is off topic and maybe kinda a stupid question, but I'm just curious. In the second link you gave, under the << LEAVE >>, that black and white pixlated thing...what is it? I was recently in Japan and saw those things on fliers all over the place. What the hell are they and what are they used for?

It a type of 2-dimensional barcode named QR Code, which can be recognized with camera-equipped cell phones. All infomation needed e.g. contact info can be transferred to one's cell phone with a single shutter click, instead of the tedious job of thumb-typing.

dormcat, I only meant that usually I see Japanese VA credits for H-anime (released in the USA) being totally unlisted. Sometimes they do use aliases as well, maybe sometimes even their real names. It's just the general trend that I was talking about.
Anyway, thanks for the weblinks. My browser doesn't read Japanese though (and neither do I really) but from what I could roughly discern that was a great site. It's probably only for Japanese VA though, right? So us in America should do what they've done, for English VA. It's a lot easier to identify people with your ears (and no reliable credits to go on) in your native language.
chibi, I don't think hentai is illegal in the USA. I see them in lots of regular stores such as comic book stores, Sam Goody's, Suncoast, etc. I don't see why legal issues would force one to use a VA alias instead of ones' real name for English dub h-anime. Anyways, I'm still waiting to see if anyone else will verify the English h-anime VA information I mentioned, or contribute more new information. There's also some other well-known English dub VA I've identified that I haven't mentioned here yet because I'm not as certain about them. I'm not that great at this; there are many people who are way better than me at identifying voices. |

Nothing about the legality of hentai. American voice actors even use aliases for non-hentai. All for one word: union. Addendum: Some of them may have morality issues (don't like to be branded as "moaners"), just like their Japanese counterparts. |

I seriously doubt its a morality issue, I think its just common business sense. The voice actors are less likely to be looked at as potential candidates for a new children themed anime if they've been involved in H-anime before. Its the same principle of why porn actors don't get hired as conventional film stars. They may be brilliant actors for all we know but they've been pre-judged as working on pornography because they can't act.
