All that'll happen is that there will be a new UK oriented pirate website.

There are some nice VPN services out there these days, they will only grow faster.

There are already several UK specific pirate sites I can think of; plus all of the multiple others in existence. Blocking the Pirate Bay is a small drop in the ocean considering how many other websites offer links to identical torrents. |

If you use your ISP's DNS servers, it will be blocked. Change your DNS to something like Google DNS or OpenDNS and there's less of a possibility it will be blocked

Italy already did this to Pirate Bay years ago.
And with use of magnet torrent links, there's less need for host trackers. |

A brief investigation on a search engine, taking but a fleeting minute to complete, revealed a new and accessible domain for the website in question. It would seem that retaining an online presence has become a matter of principle for the website's owners. |

My ISP isn't covered by this ruling, so it makes no difference to me. This seems just like putting a sticking plaster over a severed artery. It looks like you're doing something, but it's a complete waste of time.

I would have thought that the Court would have insisted on IP-layer blocking. Still not adequate, given proxies and tunnels. |

I'm amazed that The Pirate Bay is still operational. The court case was a couple of years ago, the staff were convicted, and I'm flabbergasted that the site wasn't shut down. I haven't even been there since the convictions since I just assumed it wasn't going to survive. At least, not in an illegal form.
Guess I was wrong. |
