This also just in: Cartoon Network will now just be known as Network.
This is a really bad decision; I can see Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Small Soldiers at least uses CG, I guess. However, what's with the Goonies? And who made the decision to put that atrocity of a movie Honey We Shrunk Ourselves on any network? And why are these movies so outdated? None of this makes any sense. Also, why is this on ANN? No offense, I'm supportive of less anime-focused types of news for anime video games and stuff about who is charge of anime companies and networks. However, even though Cartoon Network plays some anime, this really has nothing to do with anime. Just curious why this got approved. |

Haven't they already been showing a bunch of non-cartoon things, like with those real people who host their friday night cartoon thingy.

Well this is stupid. Just be thankful that [as] is considered a separate network (and I believe Toonami is, too, or will be).

Will they be relying more heavily on Boomerang now to air cartoons, like Disney turned to Toon Disney to air all THEIR old cartoons?
VERY stupid move on their part. I wonder how much money they're getting paid to air these old movies though...someone must be getting paid big bucks in order for them to turn around and go "OLD NON-CARTOON MOVIES! BRILLIANT!" |

It's so weird...no cartoons on cartoon network...next thing you know there won't be music on Music Television either.

Yeah, but don't worry, they'll be a Cartoon Network that'll air cartoons, for about 3-4 years. And then... |

Teletoon's been doing the same thing in Canada for a little while, though the movies have some sort of cartoon connection (Scooby Doo, Beetlegeuse).
Like it or not, it makes some degree of ratings sense to air "contemporary classic" kids' films, especially going into the first sweeps month of the TV season, when advertisers pay close attention to the ratings by timeslot. Lately, Cartoon Network's ratings have been pretty anemic with the target demographics. |

And Toon Disney airs Power Rangers (before any other Disney network, even). It makes no sense. It's like the MTV-icizing of animation networks. They start branching out then they will begin to lose focus on the network's original purpose. MTV airs very few music videos these days, G4 is the next SpikeTV now.

I certainly hope that this doesn't become a common, once-a-day thing. I can see how live-action movies might spice up their weekly movie thing, (You can only show Balto so many times, after all.) but having it be a part of their regular schedule would just ruin the network, especially in the case of The Goonies where there aren't any solid links to cartoon shows or movies.

Well from what I remember, there was quite a bit of innuendo (some violent, some sexual) in the film. I mean, just look at Jessica Rabbit . |
