Can somone suggest a good anime series to me, hopefully one that's on dvd? I already have the complete neon genesis evangelion, the complete trigun, Ghost in the Shell:SAC vol. 1-3, and cowboy bebop sessions 1-3. Also, I'm 13, my mom will let me watch anything rated TV-14 and below, and some TV-MA depending on the descriptors. I can watch Cowboy bebop, for instance. She doesn't have a prob with violence really, but is a standard american mom in the fact that she really wont tolerate too much sexual content. Again, it needs to be available on dvd, but not neccessairily as part of a box set.

Can you suggest a particular genre that you may prefer over others?

Well if your mom lets you watch Cowboy Bebop then try getting Samurai Champloo as it is directed by the same person who directed Cowboy Bebop. Its available on DVD though I don't know how many volumes have been released. I also recommend to try and get Vision Of Escalflowne TV, Cowboy Bebop: Knockin On Heaven's Door Movie and maybe Escaflowne: A Girl In Gaea Movie.
All are action packed with good stories...........well all except Samurai Champloo. The Escaflowne movie is in an alternate Universe which has pretty much no connection with the TV series except the same characters. Also A Girl In Gaea is a much darker version of the TV series' story.

Robotech is a good one and cheap. It was made in 1980s', I forget exactly when. Anyways, its a mecha show with also a love triangle involved, don't worry there's no sexual scenes except for someone kissing someone. Aliens come to earth to reclaim a ship and the earth has to face them off. Because the aliens are huge they use robotech techonology and create veritechs(the mecha) to fight them off.
That's the first season, the second season deals with another alien force also coming for the ship difference is these aliens use to control the first aliens from the first season. And they are fighting through out the season and there's a mystery as to why they want the ship in the first place. And the humans are basically tryign to stop them and figure this out at the same time. And then theres an alien among the humans which the main character starts to fall in love with but doesn't actually know who he or what he is. Even to himself he doesn't actually know for he has amensia.
The third season, deals with a whole new kind of alien that actually takes over the earth. Now, the humans are slaves. And the humans that were sent into space before earth was enslaved come back to free humans from the new aliens. But they are wiped out, except for one (the main character), He gathers a group of people to fight for a cause to free the human race and get to a certain base called reflex point where the main hive or base of the aliens are and destroy it. They believe with out there main hive they can not exist and like the other seasons there is a love story because of the main characters soon to be wife dies in the beginning and he meets someone who looks exactly like her.
So, If you like good mecha shows with nice story ploting and alien invasions with love stories in the middle of war this is a good show for you. If you want more details or rating you should look it up in the encyclopedia.
Best of all it's probably the cheapest show you'll find around(and that doesn't mean its a bad show). If you wait till november 19th, they're sending new box sets to stores that holds all the episodes for all three seasons plus alot of extras and only costs around $100, sounds much but for 85 episodes that's extremely cheap. And for your parents if they think it's not something you should watch, Robotech once aired on toonami.

That might not be a good idea Ichigok90. There are some scenes of sexuality his mother might dissaprove of. It's a good movie but you might want you mothers approval on this movie.

Its not that much if you're just talking about that scene where Faye is lying on the ground with her shirt?? or such cut open in the middle. You don't really see anything. Or are you talking about that scene with Electra on her bed sitting up without a shirt? You don't really see anything there either except her back.. That isn't much compared to Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex which IMO has more sexual content with what Major wears.

I know it isn't much but I don't know his mother and some parents might not like it. And I'm talking about the scene where fayes shirt was cut open. Some parents might not appreciate it even if there's nothing actually seen. I'd rather him have a heads up on some of it just in case you know.[/spoiler]

You obviously hav never seen Champloo if you think it has no action. It may not have as much as, say, Bebop, but it's there.

When I said "except" I was reffering to storywise not actionwise.

Okay, one thing you guys don't get, is that specific happenings in the movie don't count. It's not like my mom is gonna watch it with me. It's the descriptors. If the movie is rated for sexual situations, or sexual themes, etc., but no actual sex, she won't care, even if (insert name here) is lying on the ground with her shirt open or whatever, she wont be watching the movie. Okay, How about this, just suggest ANY good series, don't bother with the ratings, I'll sort through them later.

yeah, lol. I've seen champloo, my mom doesn't mind that.
The good bit is that the action and fight scenes in that show kick ass and the animation is freakin' awesome. The bad bit is that it doesn't have the storyline to back up the insanely cool fight sequences.
I mean, please, samurai who smells of sunflowers?

Its shoujo? Anyways yeah you'll like it. Theres alot of cool mecha fights mixed in with medival stuff so its really good. Not to mention that the music is done by the same person who did the Cowboy Bebop and Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtracks.

A series you might like is Full Metal Panic.
It's centered around a boy named Sagara Sousuke (his face is my Avatar) who is a soldier in an organization named Mithril, which is an independent mercenary group committed to maintaining world peace and that possesses technology (machines termed "Arm Slave," or AS) about 10 years ahead of that possessed by the standard armies of most developed nations. He and his allies are charged with protecting a girl named Kaname Chidori, for reasons that I will not yet reveal. And the series takes off from there.
It's got a wonderful mixture of action, comedy, romance and a very entertaining plot. Not to mention that it employs lots of cliffhangers that will keep you watching in spite of yourself. And there's nothing in it to make your mother worry. So give it a shot if you want, I doubt you'll end up regretting it.

His mother likely wouldn't like Chordi's panties showing.
I recomend from the sounds of it buying GetBackers.
