Is there a series that you are still waiting to be dubbed (or at least get some form of Western release)? Dub-haters, if you have a problem, don't respond.
Dr. Slump- Akira Toriyama's first breakout manga before Dragon Ball. The series had two anime adaptations and neither have made it across the ocean. The closest was the first episode be Harmony Gold, but that's it. Now, what's the problem? The anime is almost 30 freaken years old. We have the manga in it's entirety, but not the anime? I can see Funimation picking this series up and doing what they did with Sgt. Frog and Hetalia: putting in more Western jokes, but keeping the overall plot. Just as long as they don't go overboard and put in jokes about domestic abuse, rape, murder, and other South Park-esque jokes complete with Character Derailment up the arse. I'm looking at you, Shin-chan. Detective Conan- Now, I know the first 100+ episodes were dubbed, but they stopped due to poor sales. Maybe if it aired on a network that didn't put it in a bad time-slot, maybe we'd have gotten to Shuichi Akai by now. |

Toradora. I'm hoping NISA will do this if they release a bluray version. It would be a good place to start. This is not because I'm unhappy with the Japanese version, which is basically perfect, but because I like contrasts and it adds something to see a show in a different way if it's done well, at least from my perspective.

Tatami Galaxy - Because this show needs a dub. It's one of the few shows out there that is genuinely difficult to watch subtitled.

I would like to see the 2nd and 3rd Hell Girl series releases with dubs. Preferably, I'd like to see the voice actors from season 1 reprise their roles as well. Pretty much anything else I bought that was subtitled only as well. I prefer bilingual releases and feel a bit cheated when we only get one. I only buy them if I really want them.

Emma A Victorian Romance: the entire series takes place in England, where everybody speaks Japanese? Seriously this made zero sense, I know Nozomi is a tiny part of Right Stuf, but they could have got people from the local drama clubs at the local colleges to come in to dub it. Or source it out to somebody, especially for what they were charging for the DVD sets (about $40-$50 each 12 episode set).
Magical Project S: this one also baffles me. This came out at a time when Tenchi.Muyo was pretty popular, and the Pretty Sammy special was dubbed, and yet the follow-up series was not? I am sure all the dub actors were available to do this... Lucky Star OVA: OK we have one of the most popular shows in recent years, and yet due to "bad sales" (mostly of the really really large special edition sets) they decide to not only cancel the last special edition set, but also to not dub an hour long I mean it would have taken a couple days at most to dub it, and I am sure the Bang Zoom people would have loved to do it. Millenium Actress & Tokyo Godfathers: 2 of the best works from the late Satoshi Kon. They are great movies, but could be much better, and more widely known if they were dubbed. Just look at the success of Paprika. |

Hitman Reborn: granted the show is a hard sell just cause it starts off as a gag series but its a great shonen series and it's too bad no one has picked it up for NA release.
Gintama: now too be fair sentai is actually dubbing the movie but I'd still like to see the show dubbed. |

Definitely agree with Victorian Romance Emma. I would only be happy if the dub had decent British accents though. Most British accents done by Americans are utterly cringeworthy.
A more recent example, so maybe not "overdue" per se, is Blue Exorcist. If this had been dubbed, it probably would've done really well on TV, which isn't going to happen now. Big marketing error there. |

Conan, Future Boy, which is such a great children's series, but sadly made less available to its rightful audience among English speakers due to lack of a dub. (Or R1 or R4 release, if it comes to that.)

Great. Now I'll have to come up with a different series. Thinking, thinking... I would love to see Maria Holic get dubbed; Just to see if they'd go guy, girl or both. Sola. No, I mean Sora. No, wait. Sora is copywrited as Sola? Isn't that confusing? Anyway, far worse shows have been given dubs. There'd be no money in it but the show deserved a better fate. Hayate the Combat Butler. And why not? Aria. New Venice on Mars and everyone speaks Japanese and has Japanese names; It should be that it's New Venice on Mars, everyone has Japanese names but speak English. Just to make it that much weirder. Gunbuster/Diebuster. I think all I need is to say here is "?". |

I would love a dub for Emma because I could probably get my Mom to watch it; she loves period pieces, but it's hard enough trying to convince her to give an animated series a chance, but one set during Victorian England but with all the characters speaking Japanese...forget it. And, I tried 3 separate times to watch Tatami Galaxy subbed, but there was just too much text for my blind ass to keep up with; I was pausing so much that I just wasn't enjoying myself. Too bad, since it seemed like a great show. I believe the only way I could watch it is with a dub. |

Chiming in my own personal thoughts...
-Emma: Victorian Romance- In definite need of one considering the Victorian era Britain setting which would be a good fit with this series. -Cardcaptor Sakura- I'm talking about a proper dub for the uncut release that Pioneer/ Geneon did, not the heavily edited one done by Nelvana. But with the series long out of print, we sadly may never get one. -Ramen Fighter Miki- Get together a group of enthusiastic dub actors and I imagine they would have fun voice acting to the antics of the cast from this series. |

I just picked up Maria-Holic, I would have a lot sooner if it had been dubbed.
Of course I would also love to see dubs for Toradora, Hell Girl s2&3, Emma, Sola, the Lucky Star OVA(why wasn't this dubbed?) and pretty much any sub-only release. Except for Aria. I can't even imagine one. |

I'm gonna go with the You're Under Arrest series Sentai has licensed. Would looooove to buy bilingual editions of those series dubbed by the Coastal Carolina cast.

I've read before that the OVA sold terribly. If that's the case, it's no surprise then that they didn't dub the TV series. RightStuf has had the DVD sets for a long time. They don't have the first one now, but still plenty of the second one, even after all this time. Gives me the impression that it still didn't sell even after being re-released on DVD. Still makes me sad since I would have loved to hear the TV series dubbed. |

Never knew the DVDs for Magical Project S were sold together in two separate sets. I always assumed that the two sets were only the first two volumes of the series containing 3-5 episodes per volume, which were the norm for anime back in the early 2000s and that the other volumes were sold out. But with this unique situation, I guess I now have reason to hunt down the series since I've wanted to add it onto my growing stockpile. |
