Surprised Jormungand is so lowly ranked, that show looks like it could be awesome.

Not surprised at the Accel World and Medaka Box's positions on that poll as I'll be watching both. Eureka 7: Astral Ocean should be ranked a bit higher though imo...I'm also surprise @ Dusk maiden of Amnesia's position especially after the 2nd promo video that was streamed recently. Jormungand's position is also a bit surprising as well as the ranked #1 Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A

Too bad Hyouka will be starting a bit late though...and why is Sankarea ranked so low on that list?

While I;m not suprised to see it up there, I;m really glad Medaka Box is high up on the list. If the manga really is ending soon, high disc sales would be the only way to get a second season now...

usually these type of polls dont resemble disc sales at all since kimi to boku while high on the list sold pretty bad same thing can be said about is this a zombie.

It doesn't really pander to anyone, and it's a really dark take on what it mean's to be a hero.

Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A? Sometimes it seems like some Japanese companies create things with random word generators.

I'm pleased to see Sakamichi no Apollon in the top ten; it's the only one there that I'm really interested in, although I am a little curious about Accel World and I should probably give Fate/Zero a chance.

The next series on the list that I'm really interested in is poorly-ranked Jormungand. The premise is could make it a slightly, probably very slightly, cleverer or more thoughtful Black Lagoon and Koko Hekmatyar has a creepy enough smile to be intriguing. Her surname alone is worth the price of admission.

I don't know what to make of AKB0048's rank or of AKB0048 itself. I want to watch it for the same reasons that I would want to watch a sixteen clown car pileup on Lombard Street in San Francisco.

Are there any good websites that have tried to approximate these polls among western fans? It would be interesting to see if there were any differences.

I would like to see polls like this conducted using a more sophisticated voting rule, like the Modified Borda Count or Range Voting. A method that's more sensitive to preferences might make for a different ranking

Well, actually darkness panders to me, but I don't count for present purposes.

Oh, I beg the editorial team's pardon, but at the moment, Medaka Box is listed as Medaka Boxl.

They are not really lolis, they are high school kids. It might be more right to say that they are Bishoujos, but either way it is a great invention indeed.

If you ask me, this is yuri fans' answer for their own "Prince of Tennis" series; over-the-top competition series with little regard to the real rules with LOADS and LOADS of slashing potential.

This is the best I can think of... using the userbase on MAL that has anime listed as "Plan to watch" for the Spring season.. Be warned there is some stuff from Summer 2012 and later since there isn't a way to accurately say the end date since a lot of anime don't have an announced end date yet.

http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?q=&type=1&score=0&status=0&tag=&p=0&r=0&sm=3&sd=1&sy=2012&em=0&ed=0&ey=0&c[0]=f&gx=0&o=7&w=1

So top 10 are...

1. Fate/Zero 2
2. Kore wa Zombie 2
3. Sankarea
4. Kimi to Boku 2
5. Accel World
6. Tasogare Otome x Amnesia
7. Hyouka
8. Medaka Box
9. Eureka Seven AO
10. Hiiro no Kakera

On DVD/BD perhaps, but at least CR isn't shy about simulcasting them.
