I just watched the Kenshin OVAs last night, and they were friggin awesome. I loved them so much.
However, I still have some questions: In the 2nd disc (Betrayal), when he spoiler[burns the farmhouse down, there is a japanese (I'm pretty sure) character on the hillside] what does it mean? and at the very begining of the last disc (reflection) spoiler[he falls off the back of a ship in a storm and says "my body...so heavy" (or something like that), and it kinda implies that he dies. He doesn't, though, for obvious reasons (such as the lack of bandages when it hapens, and the fact that he and Karu die together at their home)] Can anyone explain that? Thanks |

To answer your questions. The japanese character on the hill near the burning farm is suppose to be spoiler[Tomoe's name] I think.
For your second question. spoiler[Kenshin doesn't die after falling off the ship] but spoiler[dies before Kaoru and the cause of death is supposedly AIDS]. Kenshin merely fspoiler[alls off the ship and washes up on shore where he is later found by some random person]. After that he is found by Sanosuke and you know what happens from there. Though I am not very sure of that. |

I didn't know spoiler[AIDS killed kenshin.] I always thought he spoiler[chose to die because his reason for living was over. His reason being for atonement. He had also chosen to die with the person he loved.] Thats what I thought I mean some love story cliche.
Did those marks/rashes all over Kenshin's body come from his battle with Shishio, or are they something else? I havnt seen the Meiji Era Arc but I have seen the first two but I dont remember Shishio messing up Kenshin that bad. SO whats the stuff on his body? |

I thought the marks on his body were from the disease. Kaoru was also shown with marks like that, I think. She had chosen to take the disease as well or something.
I don't think the disease was AIDS, because those marks (I thought) were symptoms of the disease. |

I did a quick google search and found this on AnimeOnDVD.com:
spoiler["Over the course of the flashbacks, it is slowly revealed that Kenshin is dying from a disease he contracted on one of his journeys (while never explicitly identified, the symptoms point to leprosy). To share his burden and remain close to him, Kaoru exposes herself to infection."] |

No as stated before they weren't taken during the battle with Shishio. And by the way its not worth watching the Meiji Era Arc. It is completely a piece of crap. Waste of 30 episodes or so. If you do end up watching it then you're gonna regret it as it ends on two very idiotic short story arcs. The last episode is just too horrible to watch again. It left me with the thought "is that it?" for 10 days. |

Well the short story arc with the other hiten mitsurugi style user is ok but the other 2 were just horrible. The one with the black knights was plain stupid and the one with the feng-shui users was really gay and didn't feel kenshin-like.

I havnt checked out the last arc because everyone, except for final sage of fantas, has said it sucked. Have you seen all Rurouni Kenshin episodes final sage of fantas? I'm pretty sure people say the last Arc sucked because they compared it to the other 2, specially the Kyoto Arc.
I'm gonna try to read the manga because I heard the ending is good so hopefully that will give Kenshin the closure it deserves. I have to admit I wasnt so pissed off with the Reflections ending and actually learned to accept it as the Kenshin ending because I heard the last arc sucks big time. |

Honestly, though, how do you know something sucks unless you see it for yourself? You can go off of the opinions of others all you want, but that can also cause you to miss out of things that you might enjoy despite others.

For the anime, the Kyoto arc is far supererior to the other two arcs; however, if you are a fan of the characters...then I would still watch the rest of the series. For the manga, I am only up to volume 18 which comes at the very end of the Kyoto arc. Here the anime and the manga diverge. I have also heard that the manga Jinchu arc and ending are much better than the anime. I have seen the whole RK series as well as all the OVAs, so I will reserve judgment until I have finished the manga series in its entirety. So far, I am very pleased with the new story arc in the manga. SO much better than the missionary and feng-shui storylines in the anime. FYI-spoiler[as another user posted above...the disease that Kenshin and Kaoru contracted was not AIDS, but most likely leprosy.] |

I believe the marks of Kenshin's body were caused by leprosy. It is highly contagious and that is how Kaoru was able to acquire it so quickly. Leprosy was a fatal disease back then because there was no treatment. Kenshin must have acquired from people infected with the disease during the war. It's really sad that he died still atoning for his sins and that his happiness with Kaoru was so short. |

Well, fret not. This is not an "official" end to Kenshin considering the fact that the creator of the series apparently was not happy with this (animenewsnetwork.com/columns/TheGallery.php?id=9). So you could easily say that Kenshin is still alive and kicking and dies of old age officially. Y'know, if you want.

Actually i have one question for the trust and betrayel ova. Is tomoe older than kenshin, cause in some sites they show different age births, And some saying that kenshin is 28 years old in the tv show, but they say that the tv show takes place 10 years after what happened in the trust and betrayel oav. I just kind of find it weird if kenshin is 15 years old and him drinking sake, and saying that he did not have a good sake in a long time. Im sorry people i just find it disturbing sometimes when it comes to the female and male lover, when the female lover is the older one. Ofcourse the trust and betrayel ova is great, but it will fulfill everything if i get to know if tomoe is older than kenshin or not, or is it that they are the same age in the ova.

Actually spoiler[Kenshin is 16, while Tomoe is probably around 20, 21. He was 15 when Katsura-sensei recruited him as a hitokiri, and was almost 17 when he started to fight the Shinsengumi, which fits when Enishi says it's been nearly eleven years since it, not ten.]
