I personally thought that Gundam Seed was not the greatest because it seamed like the main character was too "Shinji"-ish. And from what I have heard Gundam Seed Destiny was a let down. My favourite Gundam series was Mobile Suit Gundam Wing which later lead into both the movie and OVA called Endless Waltz. What is you favourite Gundam incarnation and why?

So...WHY did you like Gundam Wing? Your post still doesn't tell us that, and it's kind of required in favourites threads that you do so (as instructed here, here, and here).

The character's were not annoying and the show had some wicked mecha fights. Also the music made the show have a really sweet soundtrack.

First off Shinji????? Secondly I thought Gundam Seed was very good, it provided a look into what war is like for civilians who are pulled into battle. Also it(Seed) provide a new version of the original Mobile suit Gundam, one that had a lot more battles and pretty shiny suits:P !!!!!

I would first make my own opinion before I decided what was good and what wasn't. There are many different series I have heard that were terrible and/or a waste of time and money but have enjoyed. Do we all prejudge, yes I am guilty of this same thing but at least I try to give it a chance, I know I will when it comes stateside.

Listen Gundam Wing is my probably my favorite Gundam series, but I haven't finished all of the UC which you left out. What I did enjoy in this series was the characters not Herro, but Zechs, Noin, Trieize, Lady Une. The way that all four interact with one another was great. Not only that Brian Drummord who provide the voice for Zechs is bloody brillant. I suggest that you go see the series/movies/ova from the UC it contains extremely deep story line. Also there is G Gundam which some enjoy, Gundam X not yet stateside, and one that I am anxious to see Mustache Gundam har har just kidding aka Turn a Gundam.

I think my favo gundam series must have been Mobile Suit Gundam and 08th MS Team.
Why: the story was wel built and the main characters weren't as annoying as in Zeta or ZZ Zeta had it's good moments but Camilles blind faith in cyber-newtypes was sometimes quit annoying, especially his faith in Rosamia ennoyed the hell out of me. The intrigues on the other hand were quit enjoyable so it is a bit of a mixed feeling.
As for ZZ: that was just a kindergarden, Bright was ridiculised and only after 15 eps or so, some seriousness was brought into the story but that was a it too late for me
Gundam F91 was also very good but the problem there was that there was too much plot in it and because of that, things felt a bit rushed

Well that because it was rushed and so much plot was throw into such a small amount of time, Gundam F91 was originally intended to be series and not a movie. I think that it(F91) could have been very good had it been given an entire season at least. But we will never know so sad.

Yep I've heard the same thing. Gundam F91 was intended to be a 49?? episode series but for some reason was turned into a movie. Ehh another gundam serise cut short was After War Gundam X which had 10 episodes cut. It was suppose to be 49 but ended up with 39 episodes. Really sad since its a really good gundam series. Wished it could have been longer.

At this point either 08th MS Team or Gundam Seed. Both show the horrors of war very well, the first ever more than the second, and they don't have some riccoculous reason why the pilots are invulnerable.
Gundam Seed: Naturals (Humans) vs. Coordinators (Genetically Engineered to be "superhuman".
08th MS Team: Young commander controls cliched unit, gets into cliched romance with enemy, and spouts cliched lines ("Come what may, we will all come back alive!") Yet the series still is good. Oh yeah, gripping depictions of war ain't bad (Of course I saw the Midnight Run version BITD, so they were edited out).

I'm going to have fun with this Topic.
Oh? I'm supposed to answer your question...it's Gundam X then.

MO' LIKE AMURO-ISH LOL LOL M I RITE?!

Heero, Quatre, Wufei, Zechs, Relena & Lady Une weren't annoying?!

Because that was a daring and original new thing for Gundam to do.
Deltakiral wrote: | one that had a lot more battles and pretty shiny suits:P !!!!! |
Uh...no. The Original Series had less Episodes and more Battles.
And it also has some of the ugliest Mobile Weapons this side of the Future Century gags.
TF wrote: | but Camilles blind faith in cyber-newtypes was sometimes quit annoying, |
It wasn't faith, it was sympathy.

It was meant to be a full-length TV Series but instead got re-tooled into a Movie after 13 Episodes were written.
Read Crossbone Gundam for the rest of the story. Ye Scurvy Dog.

Did we watch the same thing?
Coordinators, SEED Mode, even Newtype-ism...and that's not even taking into account the "Backstage Powers" that Kira & Athrun have.

So, once your done trashing other people's opinions, could you take the time to explain your choice so I don't have to delete your little rant for being part of a list post?

Well-for a start-even the Villains were likable and sympathetic Characters.
Not to mention the sexy retro-chique MS Designs...none of which were massively overpowered.

I thought F91 was done as a pilot for a series but since it wasn't recieved very well the series got scrapped.
My personal favorites are G Gundam and Zeta Gundam.
G Gundam: In my opinion its the most unique. Yeah it still has some of the Gundam staples in it but at the same time I think it strays the furthest away from the formula (which I find interesting since it was the first AU and after that all others seemed to retreat back to a more UC feel). Besides when I first got into Gundam I always thought it would be cool if you could control a Gundam with your body. Then whaddya know, mobile fighters come along. Call me a sap but I got a lot of emotion out of all of the character relationships as well.
Zeta Gundam: Definitley my favorite out of the UC. There was a lot of subtlety in the show in terms of the characters that made me realize how well done it was. Not only that but I thought it had great mecha designs (a personal favorite of mine is the Qubeley) and with that said I thought that both Scirocco and Haman were great villains. I also liked Kamille a lot more than Amuro.
I think Victory Gundam should get an honorable mention. It was a great show but no one really ever mentions anything from V. It was excellent but the only thing that really didn't stick were the characters. For some reason I didn't connect very well to them (I didn't care for Chronicle and Katejina was just crazy but the bitch got what she deserved). Still though even though I knew it was gonna happen I wanted Odelo to live. I was fine with everyone else going down (although I liked the two old guys) but Tomino just had to take him at the end. Its a shame especially since he won't be a 'comeback kid' like Mwu. I also liked V2's Wings of Light gimmick and the Zanneck was a great MS.[/b]

And SEED Destiny pretty much had to bring back old suits like the Dom, Zakus, and Goufs. I was hoping they would make more original suits. I would rather see something original than just something re-made.

ZING! Relena is probaby the Gundam character I hate the most. I remember after Gundam Wing got popular in the U.S., people were making I Hate Relena webpages.
Not only is Zeta Gundam my favorite Gundam series, it's also my number one favorite anime of all. I thought it had a really cool story with a lot of twists. I thought the mech designs were the best and the most original. It had a gigantic cast of characters were a huge majority get fleshed out and developed. The series really felt real to me.
Another favorite of mine is Char's Counterattack. It finally settle the score between Amuro and Char and it finally brings the characters back when we last saw them in Z Gundam. I really liked Char's Sazabi a lot and thought it was just cool and innovating.

My favorite Gundam series , this is a difficult question. I like all of the Gundam series that I have seen except 0080, it just did not grab me like the others have. 0080 was not bad but I could not relate to the characters for some reason. So my favorite is Zeta Gundam and I should say that I have not seen any of the Gundam shows that have not been brought to the US. Some of the things I liked about this show are, the characters , Gundam designs and the plot twists.
My favorite characters in Zeta would be Char, I like to think of this series as more his story rather than Kamille even though its not. I like Kamille also He is more confident than say Amuro was or even is in this series. I really liked the Zeta Gundam with its sled that was cool how they used the sled to re enter the atmosphere. The Argama was very cool also I liked the way they incorporated the spinning gun platforms and the flight deck into the design. Scirocco's ship the Jupiteris looked formidable and should have had more battle sequences. As far as villains go Scirrocco ,Captain Bask and of course Haman Karn are all interesting sides to the megalomaniac complex. The ending, at first I was like what the .. but when I thought more about it, I was still sad and I still do not truly understand what they were trying to say. I liked the way Reccoa and Emma kind of switched roles. I have read the forums on Seed and Destiny. I do not think I am going to buy them, based on what I have heard and the two ep's I caught on CN. Like I said before this was hard because I am a big fan of Wing Gundam also but Zeta is better by a hair IMO.

Same sentiment here: V is definitely my favorite Gundam series (I still have to watch X, Turn A and Seed though...) and I loved how the director made the spectators into hating some characters to bring tears from them when these characters finally... well, you know...
Contrarily to Zeta which ends into a blood bath, V disseminates these deaths all along the show (well, Zeta does this too but it's less emotive IMO...) therefore you never know what will happen and how, nor to who. The very end of the last episode made me really sad, far much more than the ending sequence of Zeta (no, I've nothing against this character, I actually found him rather cool but... well, nothing more about what happened to him). The use of the Newtype concept by the Zanscarre Empire during the final battle was original and innovative too, it didn't resample the cyber-newtype thing which tended to become repetitive after Z and CCA. I liked the idea of a monarchy based upon matriarchy too, it's a nice change and also a more insidious one than people may think at first: I'd be interested to see it developped more into the scenario... Otherwise, the idea of kids fighting a war is always disturbing to not say it's purely scandalous but soldier children are a real thing and V makes us recall that: I like stories which make their spectators think, at least a bit
Actually the only thing I reproach to V are the animation quality (which goes from average down to bad sometimes...) and some goofy mechanical designs which, to be honnest, are simply ridiculous
