For once I actually own half the titles....

I don't know if it should be noted that that is actually the last xxxHolic volume. I read it last week in a hurry (a thing you should never do with CLAMP). I need to go read the last few chapters again when I get the time.

Final volume of xxxHOLiC came in the mail today~
Though I have it in Japanese, too.

xxxHOLiC, unfortunately, went out with a whimper. But they moved magazines and prolonged the actual ending they planned, which is what hurt it. You'd think they'd have learned that placing their series in new magazines that aren't already accustomed to their work is a bad decision that only leads their series to unpopular ruin in the end. But their hopes for new fans from new magazines are unfounded in this day and age, so it only hurts them in the end. Not that I blame them. I like their work, regardless.

I'm waiting for my xxxHOLiC to ship from Rightstuf. At least I know to expect what sort of ending it'll be, which has my standards set low on it already :/ Oh well, I thouroughly enjoyed reading through the series! I sure wish Funi will sub Kei and the OVAs some day though...

Also, why is Pokemon Black and White vol 5 on there? It came out 2 months ago, I believe (or at least, I remember reading it quite a while ago) and vol 6 won't be out until next week. Unless it's a typo and it's actually vol 6? Meaning the copies sold were from preorders sent early I guess? Just confused as to vol 5 would be up so high randomly...

1) Well, xxxHOLiC's story was supposed to have ended after the major plot point at the end of volume 16, but another magazine convinced them to continue it there, and so "xxxHOLiC Rou" was born (the English version simply kept the original name and released the next three volumes like normal--similar to the Japanese tankouban release). However, the great majority of fans of the first magazine weren't willing to transfer over to the new magazine just for xxxHOLiC (why would they when they could just wait for the tankouban releases?), and many fans of the second magazine had little interest in it (why would they when they never read the first 16 volumes?)... so the popularity of the series in the magazine release was extremely low (even though the tankouban releases did well). Hence, why they simply ended it within three volumes of material. CLAMP wasn't very enthusiastic about it anyway, so consider it an almost-three volume epilogue.
Though, if you like xxxHOLiC, I really suggest you go read Legal Drug, and eventually, when they release it here, DRUG&DROP (the "continuation" of Legal Drug, which was discontinued long ago). It has a certain surprise in it I think you might enjoy.
Oh, an assuming you like or can handle ridiculously heavy bloodshed and thrill, watch BLOOD-C, written by CLAMP. There is another pleasant surprise there, too, though you'll have to get through until near the end to see it.

2) As for the Black & White manga, they had some small promotions for the series and sales on it recently, so that might have something to do with it.

Hmmm I don't think I would've thought the ending of vol 16 would've been very... fullfilling either. I can see it ending there, but still...
As for Legal Drug, I own the 3 that Tokyopop put out, but it's been forever since I've read them! I'm planning on re-reading them when Drug and Drop gets localized (I find that I don't read manga period until after I buy them >_> But I can wait...)
BLOOD-C I definately want to check out eventually too!

Also, that makes sense for Pokemon. I just figured it was sort of random, but still good! With good sales on Pokemon manga (either BW or Platinum) I have hopes that they'll translate all of Adventure/Special...

Well, they had the plans for the continuation by that point, so the "ending" was modified so that it could go on, albeit with a spoiler[time skip to conclude the current arc and situate Watanuki in a position where he could take Yuuko's place and become the character CLAMP planned for him to become in regards to all their other new series...]

Surprised to see Tenjo Tenge #5 on the list since I don't recall any of the previous volumes making it. Then again I haven't seen it locally yet, so it's probably sold out.

I'm more than a little sad to see Ai Ore still making this list. I think it's subject matter and approach to romantic relationships is wholly unhealthy.

I'm convinced that series must be a parody.

Volume 3 debuted at #1, and I'm pretty sure the other volumes made it on the list as well. It's just that they only stay there for a week.

If it was American, it would be. But Japanese like to play it straight. Laughing
