i've been an eva fan for awhile, altho not as long as others... i started watching when the DVDs started coming out... my question is, i recently saw that there are 9 volumes of eva manga, are they worth getting? (I've been quite happy with the berserk series) plus , altho i doubt they could , does it/will it go past the end of the TV series? i know berserk does and was curious if maybe they would do it for this as well...

-had put a question about the movie then figured out how to use the search thread properly and no longer need to ask Razz -

Yeah, I believe they worth getting. Since it's a manga, we're able to see into the minds of the characters better, which helps to understand them. Well, at least to me anyway.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no plans for furthur Eva stories going beyond the anime. It's been what? Ten years since Eva began and the manga-ka is only on volume 10. :/ I doubt we'll see more if/when he does finish the normal series.

I would agree that you get a better understanding of what's going on in their minds. I suppose it's the difference between the continuous flow of an anime and the snapshot approach of manga. Although not quite as good as the Evangelion TV series I do think it's one of the few mangas based on an anime show that's worth getting.

There is definite a better development of non-main characters, and in some cases main characters(such as Rei) in the manga. Also there are some discontinuities in the manga, which arent bad at all. Some actually creates even greater emotional effect.

There arent that many major changes, but if you have money to spare, it is a very nicee to check out.

Actually back when Evangelion was being created two men worked on the project one name Hideaki Anno (who also worked on Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) and a man named Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. Hideako Anno wrote and directed alot of the show. Sadamoto on the other hand wrote the Manga. Thus the manga is actually a serperate story all together from the anime. However there are slight differences between them such as how Asuka and Shinji share their first kiss(I won't say more I don't want to ruin it), the Anime and the Manga follow simillar story arcs.

ADV Manga has Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days, which is currently serialized in Newtype USA. It's like a crazy alternate universe.

If you dont know what he's talking about, it is better known as girlfriend of steel or something, basically a spin-off based on the short clip that was shown on the final episode of EVA as the alternate possibility.
