1. The EVA units won't use extension cords like in the anime.
2. The protagonists will be older than in the anime.
3. Shinji won't be as much of a wuss as he was in the anime.
3. The protagonists will be martial arts experts who sometimes engage in kung-fu battles with the Angels.
4. The protagonists will control the EVA units with a rope and pulley system similiar to what was used in the movie Robot Jox!

How on earth is Kung Fu going to help against a 200ft. tall Angel?
Why don't you just wait with anticipation for the film. Anno and Gainax have a part of it, so I'm sure it will be as close to the main storyline as possible.
That, and Robot Jox just sucked ass. Thanks for scarin' me.

Anno isn't. He has said on numerous occasions that he is done with Eva.

He has also said he always wanted to do Live Action EVA and most of the people in Gainax have said they will only touch Eva with anno's direction.

This question demonstrates a lack of imagination. The kung-fu will be performed by the EVA units.

I'm constantly amazed that people think Shinji was a "wuss." Any fourteen-year-old with abandonment issues would be reluctant to do the things he was railroaded into doing. Honestly, have you ever met a teenager who wouldn't whine if s/he were forced to do a bunch of dangerous and unpleasant stuff every day? I'd be disappointed if the live-action film made Shinji fit boring movie ideals for bravery; the whole point of Eva is to be reasonably faithful to psychological truth.
Kung fu Evas; thumbs down. Ballet Evas: oh yeah!

I agree with Mr.White over Shinji, take the first volume for instance. The poor kid is drafted in to nerv, stuck straight into an eva and forced to fight a giant monster. Not only that but his father who he hasn't seen in how ever many years it is shows no compassion at all.I know its probably every 14 year olds dream to pilot a giant mech but if it came down to it how wouldnt be whine a little bit.

Shinji isn't neccesarily a wuss because I would probably be that f*cked up if I went through what he goes through in Eva, but c'mon Shinji's incessant whining is on of the most annoying things in anime even if he has good reason.

I identify with Shinji (father abandoned me, and doesn't care, ect...) and I don't think he was a wuss. I agree with the above statements.
As for the flick. I WANT Shinji to be who he was in the series.....I mean that's why the series existed! I want Anno to either direct or have heavy influence in it. Once I hear he IS oficially involved, my brain can rest....until then I'm skeptical.

Personally I find Asuka much more annoying than Shinji,I realise she's supposed to come across as irritating to an extend but not so much that she makes watching unbearable. She nearly put me of Eva in the early episodes in which she features, luckily she grew a tad less annoying as the series progressed.

Almost all of the characters in Eva are annoying in my opinion. The only characters I would want to deal with on a regular basis are Hikari, she is nice but almost too nice, and Rei because she's just there. Gendo is an a$$hole who makes Genma Saotome look like father of the year. Asuka's a bitch. Kensuke and Touji are more perveted then most people I deal with. Misato would just embaress me, and Ritsuko is to obssevive.

Ahh yes, these people are gloriously flawed. Know what I call that?
Good drama.

Here's something I can almost GUARANTEE: There sure as hell won't be any Kaworu Nagisa. : : Americans on the whole are so homophobic (except around San Francisco; we Bay Area kids are pretty much cool with homosexuality) that either Kaworu will be cut out or he won't be ambiguously gay like in the show. Personally I think that either one would ruin that character's coolness, but that's just me. And I am nothing if not a shameless fangirl.
At least with the special effects team, the Evas will look cool.

It will be a trilogy, only possible way to get even half the show in. I don't think they will take out Kaoru or change his character. If Will and Grace are getting great ratings I doubt they would take out a character who may or may not be homosexual. Besides it would change the story too much.

I agree with Coral on the gays issue. As long as there are no hot-homo-actions going on, I'm sure everyone will get alone fine with it...
Think: Big Daddy had two gay lawyers (even if it was meant to be funny), Will and Grace has two gay men... I can't begin to state how many other shows are doing it these days... I believe that Guiding Light (I'm pretty sure that's the one... some soap opera) just had their first lesbian make-out scene... It's becoming more accepted. I wouldn't worry too much about them being cut out.
And Rambler-dude: I totally agree. Without flaw there is no show in my opinion... It just shows more in this series than in others, and that's what makes it so good.
