I love Monster too! So glad Nina/Robin's giving it some attention. I used to (maybe still am?) jealous that Monster didn't get as much attention as dark/mystery-driven stuff like Death Note. I was like "If you like smart series, why do they only interest you if it has pretty boys! " Even though I (not so seriously) liked Tenma.
Now, I'm like this with Sym-Bionic Titan--why aren't more people watching THAT?

I've had that happen to me. I'll be really excited about a show and want to talk about it, but the other person either isn't interested, or hasn't seen it yet so we can't talk about it. At least the people I watch anime with have tastes that are fairly similar to my own, so it usually doesn't take much to talk them into watching something I liked.

The expressions on Nina's face are priceless.
This has happened to me so many times before that I've lost count

Epic reaction shots. The final panel has Nina's lower jaw completely missing; how awesome is that??
Edit: no, I looked again and she still has her jaw. Whoops. Still, the facial expressions are still as epic as I thought.

See, this is where TV helps, in that it coordinates people's viewing schedules.
Though there's soooooooo many shows readily available now that even with coordinated schedules, it's spreading people thin.

Hahaha, so true. Monster was a good series. Well, that's what the ANN postings are for. You guys' treatises of something anime will either make the reader yearn to watch more of something or induce eye glazing and teeth gnashing exponentially for reveling on and on way too much about crapola. Very polarizing; yet strangely mesmerizing....ah, anime, what an evil mistress you can be!

Being out of the loop is a lone battle, but it can be a blessing too. I can understand how someone like Nina would feel.

Been there, done that. Last probably between 3 days to many months before the "magic" disappears.

This has happened to me way too often with my husband. I can never guess what he will like and watch with me. He loves GitS, but I can never get him to watch a robot show for anything. He just starts working at his computer.
Nice homage to Monster, a show I actually got him to watch (for a while, at least). Thoughts of this show always lead me into obsessing about Viz's treatment of it, ......
........ need brownies now.

A classic problem today where everyone is watching the same shows at different times. Only the latest streaming episodes seem to be synchronized enough to talk about, but even then someone might watch an episode on a Tuesday and someone else might wait until Friday.
But that's the same with TV in general now. I'm often watching shows days after they aired. I also tend to save up my anime for Fridays and watch them all at once.
I tried to watch Monster but couldn't get into it. It might have been because it wasn't easily available on TV in Canada as it was in the US and there was enough on TV at the time. But the story didn't quite appeal to me either.
