I like to think of myself as someone a newbie could come to for recommendations; I don't just tell people the shows that I liked, but take into account the individual's tastes and interests. This coupled with my pack rat nature and my rather above average budget have lead me to owning a large number of titles that I don't actually like.
A quick glance at my shelves and I see shows like Bakemonogatari, Elfen Lied, Madlax, Kurau, Last Exile, Romeo x Juliet, Hayate no Gotoku!, Higurashi, One Piece, Inuyasha, and Moribito; and those are just the ones I have displayed prominently, there's more hidden in dark corners of the house. I really didn't like any of these shows, but I knew people who probably would, so I figured "What the hell?" I certainly have the money.
Does anybody else have a similarly bloated collection, full of works they don't really like themselves, but get loaned out a lot to people who do like them? Are they mostly shows you weren't sure about when you made the purchase ? What sort of shows do you have that fall into this category?

The only show I owned that I didn't like has been removed from the collection. Therefore, all is good .
For those who are curious, it was School Days

Among titles I've completed and own in my collection, I'm not a big fan of S-Cry-ed and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conquerer of Shambala. The former had the feel of a typical shounen power-action series as events pressed on with the series and the latter seemed like a cheap way for Bones to milk more money off the original FMA series with the nonsensical developments from the series' inconclusive ending.
I won't comment on titles that I have lying about in my anime stockpile as I either have them on hold or have yet to see them.

I tend to only buy things I know I'm going to like. The worst thing I own is Bubblegum Crash, just because I had to see how bad it was.

Hmm, I guess I'm just weird. I never had many books or records growing up; I always envied people that did, now that I'm modestly wealthy I've made it my ambition to acquire a vast personal library. The lending was becoming a problem for a while;it was getting difficult to remember who had what to get stuff back, but now I have inventory software .

Well, I still have my boxset of Samurai Gun even though it is utter trash and I've had years to get rid of it. I just can't muster up the energy to even throw it away, let alone find someone ignorant enough to buy it.

I tend to do research so I will like the shows I buy. But perhaps Hell Girl, which I own vollume one of, I enjoyed it a bit, but I just did not quite feel up putting myself through teenagers condeming themselves, events that make a teen sell their souls, and then the condeming. So I have not bought any volumes, the single volume kind of sticks out.

Uhh, let see...lets see...*turns around to look at shelf*. I've got a fair amount of things here I don't particularly 'like', but only a few that I dislike. Mostly its stuff that people I know insisted was really good but turned out rather boring (to me):
-Clannad After Story: Try as I might, love Key as much as I do and regardless of how much I enjoyed Clannad, I just cannot stand the way After Story turns into a slow story of suffering and self pity.
-The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya S2: Endless 8, need I say more?
-Gantz: Nudity and gore a good series does not make. I found the story a little far fetched (I could have accepted it without the 'green onion alien' and such) but in the end what killed it for me was the amount of annoying side characters. It's hard to watch a series when your hoping that several characters will just hurry up and die so they'll stop being on the screen.
Code Geass R2: Geez, dont like sequels do I. I bought Code Geass R2 so that I could finish of the series after enjoying the first season, but I felt like the telling changed and left behind the parts that I had enjoyed from the first season. The ending as well, ruins this series for me, since it was the singularly most pointless and badly reasoned self-sacrifice I have ever encountered.

I'll second Gantz. I had some weird idea that the manga (which I was lukewarm towards) would translate better into an active visual medium. Turns out I was wrong, and pacing was a repeated problem with that series. It actually managed to turn dangerous fights against aliens into something boring.
Golden Boy is another one. I have no idea why I bought that anime, other than perhaps that the fan service attracted me. Uggh - the whole thing makes me wince now whenever I watch any of it.

It's not just you. I think R2 was a serious drop in quality from the first season, right from the very first episode. As much as I hate ambiguous TV endings, I prefer the series ending on the ambiguous last note of Season 1 over the whole "Spinzaku kicks him down!" resolution at the beginning of Season 2.

After a few bad blind-buys, I have learned to rent or stream series first, then decide if they're worth buying.
One of my lessons was Wandaba Style. In my early days in the fandom, I picked up the thinpak boxset solely on the cover art. It still sits on my shelves.
I haven't watched it since that first viewing, so my memory's a bit hazy. But I thought it had a goofy premise with dumb storytelling and comedy that didn't work for me.

I used to have this problem, but then I started selling the things I didn't like or know I won't watch again.

With the anime I own that I don't like anymore, I usually sell them off to get something I do like. I can pretty much say now I trimmed off my shelves with the anime I didn't like and have stuff on there I do like.

It's not that I dislike the series I own, it's more of the belief a re-watch in their future is nonexistent. I have no intention of revisiting most of my anime collection, and it sucks these damn things are taking up space.
Sell them? I haven't positioned myself to make it worth my effort given how little they'll return. I've over 300 titles and less than 20% sits on my "Must Keep Forever" shelf.
The other problem with selling them: most of what I own is what most of what others own, making it difficult to unload them. If buying in the primary market is down, imagine what it's like in the secondary market, where people demand boxes, cases, and disks be in pristine condition before they whip out their dollar bill.
I'll do what I did back in the VHS days:
*bag and trash
Perhaps I'll give another person an opportunity to discover anime through the Refuse Shopping Channel.

I'll get to your question, but first things first: what version of Bakey do you have and where did you get it?
As for the question, I'll answer it tonight when I get back home and look at my list of titles.
