Ok people, here's your chance to win a copy of the best manga no one's buying, Sexy Voice and Robo, from the geekiest website on the internet, Aint it Cool News.

[URL removed. -Nagi]

"The manga release not to miss this summer, the manga release to pick up for people who don't read manga, or the manga release to read if you think manga has become predictable has to be Sexy Voice and Robo. Think the teen detective built from scratch with completely modern sensibilities. A girl with a cell phone and a genius for reading people by their voice takes some contract work, and eventually finds that spy work isn't exactly about creating happy endings. Collected in a single phone book sized volume, Sexy Voice and Robo is the manga release of the summer, it is unusual and unbeatable."

If these movie buffs think this it's that good and feel it's worth promoting, think about how much YOU, as a manga fan, would love this, and you can win it so easily. Just answer their simple question and you've got a chance of winning.

Want a copy?
Send you answer to the trivia question: name three series created by "God of Manga" Osamu Tezuka that Viz has released to [E-mail removed. -Nagi] and you may be one of the winners selected to receive a copy of the manga.

For the record, my copy has FINALLY shipped from Amazon's warehouse. Jeebus.

Well it says "winners", so at least they're giving out more than one copy.

I'd actually say that's Blue. At least people are buying SVaR and it's getting praise from sources outside of the manga community; I could probobly count the number of people who have bought Blue on my hands including myself.
But everyone enter this contest. Sexy Voice is probobly the best thing that's published this year, and definitally the most refreshing. Alot of people are saying Kuroda's work offers an idea on where manga is going in the future, so check it out.

Add me to that list... :P

Ponent Mon/Fanfare really needs to get its act together, while they release some of the most interesting manga on the US market, they are terrible at marketing it to anyone, neither the anime/manga community nor the alternative comics community. Good luck finding their manga also if you don't live in a city with a good comic shop, their distribution is spotty even on the Internet.

Blue is fantastic though, I don't think it has as much general appeal as the other work. Still it should at least be getting praise from the alt comics community, but they are a bit baffled and perplexed by the whole manga craze and are still unable to separate the wheat from the chaff.

I hope people try to seek it out, you can pick it up on marsimport.

The only reason I knew about this manga was because one of my favorite scanlators was about ready to release it, and hyped it up, but it got liscensed and they announced who liscensed it. That's how I figured out about ponent mon, otherwise I would have been still looking around frantically for a successor to Pulp (though Ponent Mon's focus is completely different, at least a manga publisher that was willing to put something out that was a bit different).

have a feeling that the majority of the sales are from die hard fans of that particular scanlator. I wouldn't know about Kuroda's work either if it wasn't for them :)

You said it. Aside from the fact that their books are usually overpriced (Botchan is a ridiculous 20 bucks per volume AND you're only getting half of what was in the Japanese release; meaning it's probobly going to be 10 volumes as opposed to five), they should at least try to get some press for their products. If they offered Blue to any number ofreview sites, I'm sure it would get great press, from the alt comic community and the manga community. And while I agree that most of their stuff is very, very good, they do have a bit of a pompous attitude about them.
