$5.00 isn't going to make much of an impact. Maybe they see a bigger market for it so they want to get more money from it.

Or "Why charge $30, when we could charge $35?"

I am still wondering why this series is getting a complete collection release... I saw the trailer and it didn't look half bad. I wonder why it isn't being milked in the traditional every other month multiple release fashion.
I plan on getting it so I hope it doesn't stink

Because it's generally considered to be pretty awful. Sure, there are some people who like it, and they'll buy it, but I think it's also to make joe average go "ohh! $35 for an entire whatever! win!".
Then again, I seriously wouldn't mind more stuff being released like this, since people are putting out more crap on more discs and are effectivley killing shelf space everywhere. Kudos to bandai for the intiative, but it's a shitty first series :/

This is my first post so I'll make it count
Avenger I've seen it while it was being fansubbed and overall it's pretty good a couple eps were "boring" but the songs ruled (especially the op) and having it at originally at 30$ probably made Bandai think people would buy it (considering a series of it's length normally cost around 100$) that people would buy this dvd because they thought it was a great price (or they would wonder why it's soo cheap.....almost HKdvd price.....area...but even if they did look it up and 'thought' it would be bad they would buy it because of it's price) and increasing it 5$ is probably Bandai's way of just making more money off it and actually I do want to get this set myself though since I'm broke and my chances of rewatching it are slim (I rarely rewatch anime so it's kinda hard for me to buy R1 DVDs and actually watch them......and buying anime I haven't seen can backfire)
Also if anyone from any Anime Industry is reading this
TRY PUTTING KARAOKE IN THE DAMN DVDS!!!!!
(and i mean karaoke.....Fansub Karaoke)
Also hopefully I'm not breaking any rules here......

But that is clearly opinion, and I don't see any company trying that maybe it would work? maybe it wouldn't? You can't tell till you experiment. Also though karaoke would be nice for some fans for fans like YOU it would seem pointless to you? What about having fonts that actually GO ALONG with the show? none of these bad yellow/white fonts. For those who hate dubs why doesn't someone try not including a dub? (just having a dub on a dvd makes me want it less....)
Although you still reserve your right to skip over the karaoke's anyway. However, why should anime fans that love anime music have to sit around to those crappy yellow/white subs. Some fansubbers are extremely good at doing what they do. Everyone at Bandai who is releasing stuff to the public SHOULD be a professional, am I right? These people are paid for their job, so why should they do it half-assed
These are simply opinions and I seriously doubt any company would try such a thing (probably not willing to gamble soo much....)

You do realize the doing karaoke subs would require them to be hardsubbed into the OP and ED; in other words it has to be embedded onto the sequences. This may lead to a loss of video quality of the entire thing. If there's a way to do karaoke softsubs (of which I doubt), I'm all ears here.

The show is being sold as a show, not a concert or karaoke DVD. Even Japanese DVDs dont have Karaoke.

Because there are only so many fonts and colours that DVD can support, since DVDs did not and can not evolve in the same way divx can (DVD is a hard media, divx isn't). Go along? I'm wanting a translation, not a fan's "form" of interpreting the show. I use subtitles as a translation, not a substitute, for the content.

Because a dub is used, generally, because it's a standard for most anime DVDs. While some titles really shouldn't waste their time on them, other times a title will be headed for television or on-demand or whatever, and a dub helps attract a timeslot for it, since most people in the US do not watch cartoons in foreign languages (or usually most films, since they're not a subtitle heavy culture).

Because music is about listening, about taking in, not reading. Kareoke would also draw attention away from the visuals that are set up to work with the audio.

And some are half-assed too. Bandai are by no means doing Avenger or whatever half assed, they're doing an official, licensor approved bi-lingual release with accurate English subtitles. It is not a music DVD, it is a DVD set of a TV series, and I wouldn't want it to be treated any other way.

There are such things as wrong opinions.

Avenger was alright, not great but not terrible IMO, but the opening was pretty cool.
$35 dollars is a great price for an entire 13 episode series.

Because $5 doesn't seem like much.

Avenger was a series that was pushed on Bandai in order to get something else. They had to purchase the license for Avenger in order to get another series they actually wanted. This was mentioned on the AnimeOnDVD.com forums.
