I've been juggling this title for a while waiting for someone to really sell me on this. Is this is a good title?

It's good depending on what you like...

It takes about 4-6 volumes to really get down and dirty into the real story, but when you get there, in my opinion it's worth the money. The art style is amazing by the time the manga ends, some of the best art you'll ever come across in a manga, and there's a load of well developed and likable characters.

However, if you don't like gothic undertones, taboo relationships, and a weird twist of christian religion and mythology, it's not for you.

I guess I should specify what kind of stuff I like.

I like angst. I like melodrama. I like depressing/sad titles. And I like realistic, intensely human slice-of-life dramas (it's best if they're all of the above). I love dramatic titles that emotionally involve the reader and make the reader feel cleansed for having read such a title. Unfortunately there seems to be a real dearth of said titles in the US (at least as I saw it), so I have to do a lot of work to find them. But I've struck some gold with Saikano, Tokyo Babylon, and to an extent in the later volumes Fruits Basket.

Hope that helps. And I can take taboo relationships...Koi Kaze is on my wantlist.

If you love Tokyo Babylon, I'm 90% sure you'll love Angel Sanctuary, especially since you like angst, sad, depressing, melodramic titles, etc. It's no slice of life though, pure angelic/demon fantasy, but still all good.

If you like titles that "emotionally involve the reader," you're going to love AS. I recently finished vol. 8, and I was just like, "wow." As littlegreenwolf says, hang in there, since it wasn't until vol. 7 that AS changed from a title I enjoyed to one of my top favorites. I just feel really inspired while reading about the desires and sacrifices of many of the characters, who are struggling to survive in a world with no defined sense of right or wrong.

It's true that AS isn't realistic or slice of life (which you like) but rather epic in scope. However, I feel that this is a good thing, since there are way too many manga titles out there that are episodic and can become stale. The storyline of AS really pulls the reader along, which is partially why it's so emotionally involving, since you can't help but care about the ultimate fates of the characters. AS sometimes seems confusing as heck, but I just know it has to have an awesome ending, and I can't wait Anime catgrin

I have read the first volume of Angel Sanctuary and LOVED it. The sad thing is that I originally bought it because of the cover Embarassed which I do not normally do. And the even worse thing is that ever since reading it I cannot find Vol. 2 ANYWHERE. But I still really like the series, so far. Great art and touching characters and, as already stated, a bit confusing at this point. I cannot wait to find Vol. 2.
