My parents have only ever given me the titles I ask for, as they know nothing about manga, but now they just get me gift cards so I can get exactly what I want.

Yeah, I know someone whose mom gave her junior-high brother the Gravitation manga for Christmas cause the mom thought it was just about rockstars. Actually my friend's kid brother did like it until he got to the part w/shounen-ai kissing, which he thought was gross
I don't trust my parents to pick out manga for me, so I usually just make up wishlists on amazon.com for them to buy from whenever its my birthday or Christmas.

My mom won't support my Japanese merchandising habits, expect for one time when she discovered there was a cool devices manga. She thought it was funny. I refused.

The worst mangamy parents got me would have to be Tenchi Muyo! vol.2.Thats when I was just getting into anime. That was my first manga.Once she read it shge wriped it up.I'm about to start crying just thinking about it.

My mom never bought me manga when I wasn't there so I usually just pick what I want. She did get me Ghost in the Shell once, no questions asked even with the PA sticker on it. I'll have to admit- waste of money.

My mom has only bought me 2 manga's Fruits Basket #5 (for exceptional scores on middle school entrance exams) and Yu Yu Hakusho (for Christmas, it was on my wish list...) since I didn't like Yu Yu Hakusho volume 1 nearly as much as FB #5 I guess YYH is my answer.

The only manga my parents have ever gotten me is Battle Royale volumes 10 and 11...I generally buy my own stuff.

For Christmas, my parents gave me the first volume of Peacemaker Kurogane.
I still have it, but I really don't read it at all. I'm not a big fan of shounen manga.

once my mom bought Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok by mistake....
All my family read manga and everyone has different liking.
father likes classic manga(Sanpei Shirato, Osamu Tedzuka etc).
mother devotes her time to only shojo manga like Nodame Cantabile. and my brother and me usually read manga for young men those sometimes include battle action, violence or nudity.
My parents don't like such "harmful" manga. (especially they hate Berserk, Ichi the killer )
But they have never prohibited us from buying.

my parents figure if I have a job I can buy my own manga/anime. They don't really like anime/manga they think its about violence, worshiping the devil and pornography like what your parents think; but I'm not a child they don't ban it from me. I've never gotten a manga from them. My mom let me use her ebay acount and credit card to buy princess rouge a few years ago but I paid her back. I'm the outcast in my family and I'm the only one who likes anime, its a tradition that every present must be clothes since my older sisters only want clothes for their birthday/christmas and they figure I want only clothes for my birthday. I did get my dad to go to anime north with me, I could tell he didn't enjoy himself but everyone has their own interests.

My Mom got me the first volume of Love Hina one year for my birthday. I had told her several times that I didn't like Love Hina, but she picked it up for me anyway because she thought it looked 'cute' T_T
