Episode of Bardock spin-off of Dragon Ball Z was quite a success, if anime adaptation is being made. From similar projects published with creator's or heir's approval I recall Black Jack Alive anthology- tribute to Tezuka's famous doctor. Are there more examples of promoted fanworks? If so, what do you think about this form of tribute? They are always appreciated as a next portion of favourite work, but they can be pretty disturbing when it comes to canon and unavoidable changes in characters.

Hmm, well Fumi Yoshinaga herself made a dojinshi for her own work Antique Bakery. Where would you put that on your list? I mean, the mangaka herself made this, AB wasn't quite a yaoi, but was pretty close most of the time. Though being made by the mangaka should make it easily acceptable to everyone, both original creator and fanbase. Still, Yoshinaga pretty much started off with dojinshi, didn't she? I can't think of who I'd trust to make a dojinshi for one of her works more than she herself.

Maki Murakami, the author of Gravitation, authored some dojinshi of that series herself. Your interest in them though, will depend exclusively on how comfortable you are with seriously hardcore yaoi, as they're probably the most explicit yaoi I've ever read. I'd definitely would have no qualms about saying they are hardcore porn. I won't say what's in them, as it's almost certainly not appropriate for this forum.

Anthologies made up of works by Dojinshi artist's are pretty common- Brocolli published a few different ones for the Digi Charat series, Tokyopop published one for the Pita ten series, and CPM published a really appropriate one with a 3 volume series of Comic Party [whose cast and story center around Comic festivals]. I think Del Rey also bundled one with a volume of Genshiken [tho that may of just been the japanese edition] [also, keep in mind Dojinshi just means selfpublished, so not all are mature audiences works]

One I recall seeing/reading about ages ago and wish they'd do an official reissue of was a Sailor Moon Infinity [someone has one up on ebay for $1400 0_o!]. It was basically Takeuchi celebrating the [soon to be] end of her comic by getting a lot of friends to contribute to an artbook [I recall that the creator of OhMyGoddess was one of the contributors].
