Is the anime that bad that the price has to be cut in half?

There's a good joke in here somewhere, but I can't find it.
That'll just make it easier to buy, then. I've seen it and despite its 80's-ness, it's a good show. However, I'm telling you right now, that guy pwns.

Wow, I can't believe they went and cut the price in half. That just shows you how much of a profit they were planning to make on it.

Or they are hoping to generate enough buzz on it that they are hoping to make up the profits in volume. Trying to figure out which form of marketing is the most profitiable is an ever changing issue in the business world. I never even checked out Yugo when it was fansubbed, so getting it this cheaply with a box is just as well in my mind.

It's so cheap, it's the "Yugo" of anime DVDs?

I was thinking more show-related than pun-related, but I guess that works.
However, I will admit, that car was before my time.

But do you think that moving it from May to July and decreasing the price will help it in the face of the stiff competition it will face in July (eg FMP? Fumoffu, Elfen Lied, Burst Angel) or from June overflow (eg Kodocha)?

It could be that they're only doing it for the first volume.
