This has nothing to do with blocking any bits of the site like ads.

ANN uses a specific font stack in their stylesheets with "Deja Vu sans" on top. I'm not a fan of this font, so I've been trying to use Stylish for Firefox to override it. Eventually I gave up and uninstalled the font, but I really like having the higher Unicode. I was able to override this font on Encyclopedia pages, but the main content pages & forums use a lot of selectors and sub-selectors (as well as any inline ones) that appear to break my overrides.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you don't like the font and don't mind ever seeing it again, it's actually easier to move the font file from the fonts directory in Windows than it is to bypass a site's CSS.

I don't recommend you delete the font. Create a folder and title it "Fonts_Dislike" (or something else, just be sure to ensure it lists next to the regular fonts folder so you don't forget). Move the file to the new folder.

Reboot, as Windows will need to refresh the font load.

Although Firefox does tend to have some rather very useful and creative add ons, eventually you'll run into some that aren't as great as others. That is a given in most situations on most applications though.

Like Petrified Jello had mentioned, I also wouldn't recommend deleting the font either.

Although PJ's method likely is the best way to rectify your issue once and for all, but there may be better (that are still free) programs for higher level unicode on the net. I think I read somewhere that Notepad++ works well with unicode, but ultimately PJ's suggestion is likely the easiest means.

I don't use higher Unicode myself, but I would like to be able to see the characters when websites do. I ended up uninstalling the font (again), so I guess the hunt is on for another font that supports high Unicode characters. Sad
