Rumiko Takahashi's published plenty of series in plenty of different genres and storytelling styles (from short horror stories to 30+ volume comedies) and I'm just curious as to which series people on here like best. I love her work but actually only collect Mermaid Saga and Inu-Yasha. However, I look forward to reading some of her older stuff, such as the Rumic Theater installments.

Of Inu-Yasha and MS, however, I think I prefer Mermaid Saga. Most of the stories are quite good, and so very macabre. Her view on immortality reminds me of John Swift's interpretation from Gulliver's Travels. I simply love the short stories, they say so much on the values and purpose of life and death in such a concise way. Inu-Yasha's a great adventure, but I wish Takahashi would wrap it up as well as her short stories....

Hmmm... I would think that my favorites would go in this order:

Inuyasha
Maison Ikkoku
Ranma 1/2
Urusei Yatsura

I have to say a tie between Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura. Rumiko works best with comedy in my opinion. As much as I loved Maison Ikkoku, her tendancy to draw things out drives me insane when it comes to romance.

Hmmm.

Urusei Yatsura - The comedy keeps me coming back (Well, when Viz was publishing them.)
Maison Ikkoku - One of the main reason why I picked up the anime. Watching/reading Godai try to win over Kyoko is worth the pick up. Plus, it's real world.
Ranma - It got boring near the anime, but atleast the manga is fun to read.

1. Maison Ikkoku - Real world and ending that really works.
2. Ranma 1/2 - even it lacks actual plot it's always fun to read ranma screwballing around.
3. Inu Yasha.

Ranma 1/2 is my favorite one because of its random comedy and romance, it was also her first work that I read and I instantly fell in love with it. Followed by Inu Yasha because of the action and the characters. I haven't really read any of her other works but I'd like to.
