It seems like this is more of a function of length and current status than anything else. The longest series, particularly those with a serialized storyline, are going to be the ones that probably lose some people at some point. And already-completed series aren't going to see as many drops, since if you know how much you have left, you can more easily decide whether it's worth your time investment to finish.

True that. Somehow, I wasn't that surprised to see Captain Tsubasa in the list. It's been going on for ages, though it made the jump from shounen to seinen starting on Road to 2002.

Understandable. It's hard for a lot of people to continue to read these series when they're so long.

It makes total sense that the most dropped series are the long-running Shonen ones. Not only because those types of series have an annoying habit of falling into a rut mid-way through and just get tiring to continue, but because they are by far the most exposed series, and the ones that most people will want to try, read for a while, then give up.
Now onto random thoughts about the list, because I feel like rambling tonight: Naruto is first, I could make a joke here, but honestly the series kinda hits a a long patch of goodish-to-mediocre for a while that while I hear it has recovered from, probably helped people to drop it. I have no idea what Kochikame is, and now curious as to why it's ranking so high. I think One Piece is probably so high up here, because of the insane number of people who read it. At those numbers the percentage of people who just drop it means a pretty large number of people. Was anybody ever reading Prince of Tennis who wasn't there for the male characters they could use for their BL doujinshi? Also, that series takes dull repetitious blandness to a new high, even for sports manga. Huh Captain Tsubasa has been running for a while, and it keeps coming back in little sequel series, which I never quite understood, wouldn't it be better to just take breaks from one long series? (Would also mean that I don't have to add up 5 different series counts to find out how many volumes have been published.) Now HunterXHunter is probably being ditched because a regular schedule is apparently the true big bad of that series. Wasn't expecting so many older titles on here, even if they are towards the bottom. Maybe because I'm thinking they are interviewing current readers of Shonen Jump who trend young. Also, because these series are finished and I'd think it'd be easier to just pick them back up without having to wait for each chapter. Doesn't help though if the series are just boring, though I guess. And I can understand not being able to finish Fist of the North Star or City Hunter, style is just to different for me to stand. I want to blame the 80's. Genuinely surprised to see Dragonball on here, because I guess I always figured that was just such a cultural touchstone over there. And because it's been finished for about 15 years. Then again, probably is a similar thing with One Piece, so many people read it, the percent who don't finished it are a larger number. Isn't Yu Yu Hakushu like 19 volumes? That's kinda short for a shonen battle series, and it's got a decent ranking on the list, wonder what happened there. Oh Dr. Slump you were amusing for a while, but you were tiring around volume 4. I guess I'm not the type for gag manga. |

That's not what the polls says at all. The most dropped series would be the series that fail in Shonen Jump. Nor does this poll ask why people stopped reading those manga all of your nonsense if baseless conjecture. The way Goo scores things is kind of wonky. |

It's the longest running manga in Shonen Jump's history, having been around since 1976. A classic zany comedy centering on a lovable older police officer getting into gag-happy hijinks. |

I really don't like the art style, it feels like there's to many lines on every page, and it makes it oddly hard to tell what's going on. I vastly prefer the more modern Shonen art styles which have more simplified and cartoon-y character designs and style, where it's easy to tell what's going on with just a glance at the page. I'm not kidding myself into thinking this is anything other then my own personal preferences, but eh what can I say. I did like Toriko which is very 80's influenced in the art, with the style of it was sort of updated for a modern-ish look. I think that's all the sort of limit to my ability to like and tolerate the style.
