There's no such thing as unisex manga in that regard. However it's not uncommon for a shounen manga to be popular with girls (ex Prince of Tennis) or a shoujo manga to be popular with guys (Maria-sama ga Miteru).


Wow, talk about an extremly sexist view I hope will never show up here. Again, classify it as what it was originally classifiyed as. Look at what audience the publisher or original author intrended for it to be. Usually it's quite easy to see, and not all manga is shonen because shonen manga is for "boys". There's manga for the older audience as well.
