They don't have a preview for volume 8. Edited: Fixed. Ikki readers are still SOL on more Kingyo, though. OTOH, as far as I'm concerned, if it's not in Viz's database, it's not official.

Well, there was a year between volumes 6 & 7, wasn't there? Maybe they'll just do that again with volume 8...

Besides, if they wanted to cancel the series, it would probably have been easier to make 6 the last one.
Is there 'the final volume' printed on the back of volume 7? If no, then it's not the final volume.

Tamaria: No "final volume", but again, no preview for number 8. And there's not even a listing on Amazon or Simon and Schuster for a new one.

1. Viz always does that 'final volume' thing when a series prematurely.
2. Not every Viz manga has a preview for the next volume. I'm pretty sure that the ones that do are the minority.
3. Some series are on a very slow schedule because the Japanese releases are slow as heck as well. Neon Genesis Evangelion, Real... Ikigami has nearly caught up to the Japanese releases. Don't be suprised if we have to wait 8-12 months for volume 8.

Yeah, but if automatically has "The End" on it, and no teaser, then the average reader would assume it's "done". Doesn't matter if it's just the end of the chapter.

I've never seen a continuing Viz series without a preview for the next volume. Maybe I'm missing the manga which are the exceptions.

Well, there are already two new volumes out in Japan, and I don't see why we gotta wait 'til summer 2012 for number 8...

Viz doesn't include next volume previews for series that are on staggered releases. D.Gray-man and Hunter x Hunter lost them as well.

According to Diamond Comics, Ikigami (Vol. 07) is the last one:
IKIGAMI ULTIMATE LIMIT GN VOL 07 (OF 7)
I was worried this would happen when they slowed down its release schedule so much, but I had my fingers crossed it'd last the last two existing volumes at least. As of now, unless Viz Media says something different, they've solicited the seventh as the final volume.

Just saw Vol 8 for pre order available on Amazon. It's due out on August 14, 2012 which is a long wait from now but I'm Just glad Ikigami isn't cancelled.

Thought so. Multiple series have been moved to a yearly schedule, it figures Ikigami is one of them.

Yeah, there's this saying about 'assuming'... Here's an idea: don't throw out Kingyo. Kingyo 5 will be released in October. That's what I think. Viz is very punctual with the books on a yearly schedule nowadays and Kingyo seems to be one of those yearly titles. New Excel Saga in April, Ooku in July, Ikigami in August, Real in November...

Tamaria: Well, there's a legitimate reason to be concerned, since there have been plenty of other series which were delayed indefinitely and/or canceled, even though they should hypothetically be more marketable than the Ikki stuff. Plus, it doesn't really make sense for Diamond to release it as 7 of 7 if that's not what Viz intended. I'm wondering if that isn't an accidental pre-order Viz sent in like with Inubaka 18.
