This is just a personal thing, but I am SO glad I don't attend big cons anymore. Too many bodies give me the sense of being trapped, and the fan funk just turns me *right* off being there all together.
On another note, I am VERY pleased to see how much they raised for Japan. The fact that the Macross one alone went for 9K astounds me and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy as being a part of the community.

I don't know if hygiene-impaired nerds are finally starting to get the hint or what, but it really wasn't that bad at AX or SDCC this year, and they were CROWDED. There may have been one or two whiffs, but for the most part, it was pretty good. It probably helps when they blast the a/c at all hours, and SDCC wasn't that hot this year, although AX was.

The fan funk wasn't that bad this year, considering also this was a hot and humid Otakon weekend.
Crowds weren't that bad, though I have been in worse, like the Oktoberfest in Munich, crowds there make the Otakon experience feel wide open.
Nice to hear that Otakon attendance is continuing its upward trend, though I wish that would be reflected in better Industry presence, which sadly remains lackluster at Otakon, compared to previous years (pre-stock market crash).
I always liked the spectacle that Industry presence used to bring.

I gotta call BS on those numbers. Like TarsTarkas said, the crowds weren't that bad, no where near the feel of 2010.
I wonder if the "official" numbers come down 10k or so. It certainly did not feel like there were more people than last year, actually felt dramatically less. The price increases are eventually going to take it's toll and we all thought it was this year that did it but claiming 31k seems way over the top.
Source - me, my friends, former Otakonians(?) for the past 5-6 years who I trust have no opinion either way on Otakon participation numbers.
