This is more of a wish thread for clannad.
I'd like it if they remade Clannad and made a different girl as the love interest.
For example I loved the Tomoyo chapter where Tomoya was with her instead. I feel that would have made a great telling for the series.
I know it may be too early for a complete remake now, but I still think it can easily be taken into consideration within say a couple years from now.
With the new bill in japan censoring anime, luckily this isn't a series that would be censored

Considering the source material, and how half of it occurs after Tomoya chooses Nagisa, it would make very little sense to re-adapt it, since it would do worse with the purists, and there is little enough demand for alternate pairings that the extra episodes generally appeased fans of Tomoyo and Kyou. This isn't even like Kanon where the older version was of middling technical quality and truncated in plot; it was made faithfully to the story by a big name studio across 2 26-episode series.

Eh... I personally prefer another girl to be with Tomoya, but I think remaking the series is too much.
The OVA's with the 'alternate' ending were enough for me. In one of the OVA's we get a Tomoya/Tomoyo pairing, and in the ~After Story~ OVA we got the Kyou/Tomoya pairing. Personally, I think that's enough, remaking the whole series just for a pairing seems pointless. Although, I'd like to see an adaption of Tomoyo's story (the separate game about her.)

I am still waiting for a Tomoya/Sunohara pairing. Which Sunohara you ask? Why not both? Kotomi was also a favourite of mine so would not mind an alternate with her. Or one with Fuuko, it could be just like .... if you know you know what I am talking about.
But seriously I think it is fine the way it is, no need to touch it, before they go back to try and get more from something that is done with KyoAni should do FMP .
They are already working on something simular to Azumanga and a K-ON movie but people really want them to bring them what is really needed.

Nagisa had her shot as the main focus, Kotomi and Fuko's arcs seemed to already been explained during the first series even if Tomoya wasn't romantically involved with them, and we got special Tomoyo and Kyou/Ryou chapters. I'd say it's pretty much all played out really and there's no need for any more. Although I wouldn't be opposed to a Ryou OVA even though it probably would mirror what happened in the Kyou special with an opposite outcome, she kind of got shafted.
I'd rather have another Kanon series actually with a Nayuki outcome

@Kruszer-I agree with you on the idea of another Kanon series with Yuuichi and Nayuki paired together as a couple. Another series would give Nayuki the ending she deserves, I felt she was shafted from any true affection from Yuuichi. The original game for Nayuki's path had moments where Yuuichi was affectionate to her plus the sweet message Yuuichi recorded for her at the end.
@Aoi_Sakuraba-There isn't really any need to do more Clannad presented a Tomoyo outcome as a special OVA at the end of the first series. Yet I can see why you would want another series with Tomoyo as the main girl and vice versa with Kyou fans, some people are dissatisfied with Tomoya ending up with Nagisa, as some dislike her.

I was satisfied with how everything ended as well. I originally watched Clannad while it was airing On Demand so I wasn't even aware that there was a second season until they started showing it. Clannad was great and I would've been content with it being over with just one season. But After Story made a great series even better in my opinion so I was glad for that. I liked Tomoyo too but the OVA was good enough for me.
Though, if they ever were to announce a remake of the series, I'd be all over it probably, pre-order and all. I just don't feel it's necessary since I got what I wanted from the original. Maybe another OVA for some of the other pairings, maybe. Still, I think I'm fine with Clannad staying as it is, as that great series that never overstayed it's welcome.
Kanon, I'll agree, is something I'd much rather see an OVA for as well. Only for me, it'd be for Makoto. Not so much to be with Yuichi but to at least be able to remain in human form as friends. There is a lingering sadness for me at the end of the series everytime I watch it since, even though she's alive, she's alone. Not to mention I can totally see her teasing Yuichi about being unfaithful to her regarding their marriage and being with Ayu.
Oh, also going back to Clannad, I think the OVAs worked well because Nagisa was excluded completely. I think if they were to remake the series with a different love interest, with Nagisa simply playing the friend role, I'd be constantly wondering how her life would be going without Okazaki there to support her. So while Okazaki is chillin' with his new love interest, I'd just be imagining Nagisa eating lunch alone or dropping dead in the snow somewhere.

Well I think the whole, I wonder how her life would have gone without him thing sparks more interest for me. I haven't played the game, but I think he still would have helped her with the drama club, even though she wouldn't have fallen in love with her. I wouldn't know anything after that though because I haven't seen afterstory yet.
Currently im sitting through hell watching Bokura Ga Ita. Yawn

Tomoyo most certainly was an underutilized character, despite the another world episode. If a show were to be made with her as the protagonist, I'd buy it. I’d also buy the remake your wishing for.
