Given this column's love for drawing attention to fringe game sites, I'm surprised there's no mention of the resuscitation of www.insertcredit.com.

Yep, I'd probably buy any HD collection - considering I'm missing a lot of games that should be HD'd in my library.
As always, the X button is a refreshingly obscure look at the anime-hybrid-gaming world. |

Solatorobo: The kemono-lovers in Japan get a kick out of Solatorobo and tend to make a decent amount of fanart for it on Pixiv and other such sites; it's much the same with furries here. That's just the way it is. And be nice, they aren't all one giant stereotype. By the way, that thing you linked, why did you have to do that? XP
Game Republic's death: You pretty much explained why Majin wasn't a success in your screenshot quotes Todd: it starred two male heroes. To Japan, that's boring; you know they love their helpless little maidens. As for what you listed, I didn't know they had worked on Brave Story New Traveler. Now I'm quite sad to see them gone. I was hoping for more RPGs if they turned out as classically good as that one. I will cherish my copy of the game now more than ever. I also don't get the crab meme; it's not funny. Saint Seiya Chronicle: If only a more professional company had handled the anime's localization, this might be something to get excited about, but it's far too late for that now. Deathsmiles 2X: Oh Satan Claws, how original. Like we haven't heard or seen the name rearranging joke about a million times already. SSF4 AE: Okay Capcom, enough already. Try putting this much effort into a franchise we actually would like to see get more attention, like the Breath of Fire series (not holding my breath) or Megaman X (X9 now please?). Wizardry: I guess the Japanese must have really craved a WRPG since their industry masters claim their own JRPGs aren't really breaking any new grounds. Then again, it's not like I agree with that line of thought. I find WRPGs stagnant and dull, but that's only my opinion. DW Gundam 3: Now that I looked it up, I'm interested in Gundam X. So it was essentially cut down because not much interest was shown in it? That's a pity. I guess not everything with Gundam in its name is a success; I should know, SD Gundam was a ridiculous piece of trash. But then again, the same can be said of any franchise that tries to change its mold too much while relying on the success tied to a name. We will never forget the abomination that was The Spirits Within. -_- |

I am happy that DWG3 is coming out next week. I had it pre-ordered and was so stocked about it...until I realized that I had to cancel my order because of my school loan payments. Grr, well maybe another time I will be able to get it.

Well, just because there's no Criterion Collection for games doesn't mean people aren't designing art for it.
http://www.palesky.com/misc/gaf_collection_collected/ And I love The Last Boy Scout...... It's probably because I'm a terrible human being.... |

That was the cause of it pretty much in it a nutshell. It had poor model sales too. Partially due to Japan suffering from Gundam Overload. People also said that the designs were too close to Wing's. ( They use Heavyarm's soundeffects for Leopard.) I personally enjoy it. Garrod is likable as a protagnist. He's sort of that guy who you want to cheer on. The Troll Bros are Trolls. Period. Jamil's a Char + Amuro hybrid and runs with it. Overall, nice feel. Just don't expect typical Gundam. |

The only Game Republic games that ever interested me were Folklore and Majin. Both are really cool games visually but average in every other way.

I'd like to quote that Saint Seiya was aired between in the 90's in Mexico and all Latin America with amazing success. It was also aired un-cut and uncensored. Just because the 'US' didn't get it until years later it doesn't mean it didn't had success in 'America'. You should rephrase it to the United States region of North America. |

It sounds very little like a typical JRPG. For one thing, a girl as the hero? Come now. Also, not enough saving the town/country/world/universe. However, it looks very much almost exactly like the typical mainline Atelier game. So much so it may as well be one. Not that that's a bad thing. Atelier Nora: Atlus Edition? I'll buy 50. |

I failed to understand why separating the beef from the salad was valued by the casual hamburger consumer. The latest Street Fighter instalment fails to arouse in me much interest. My dexterity is insufficient to perform most combinational moves within a competitive environment, not to mention the concerning absence of Rainbow Mika. |

Oh man, I've always loved that site. Also, I don't know how far the news has spread, Kotaku will be putting up episodes of Game Center CX (retitled as Retro Game Master) every Thursday evening at 8:00. This week's episode is the original NES/Famicom Ninja Gaiden. |

Just to add something, the president of CyberConnect2 is a HUGE Naruto fan. I can't say the same for the others that work at the company, though. I really, really want the Saint Seiya game to be good, but after Dimps's last endeavors with StS, it's kinda hard to remain hopeful... |

WTH! Game Republic had me at Dragon Ball Origins, and kept my interest for a long amount of time (well, I skipped out on Clash of the Titans). Majin and The Forsaken Kingdom was gorgeous, the follow-up to Origins was excellent, and Knight's Contract has been on my "must-buy" list since it's release. I've followed these guys since the aforementioned Dragon Ball game, and it's really a bummer to see them go.

The truly tragic part is that the two Genji games were both very good games, and most of the bile poured on them was nothing more than disproportionate knee jerk BS. The dynamic character and weapon instant switching mechanic was really excellent. The only problem I can recall was that the last playable character you acquire in Genji 2 was beyond awful. Otherwise, enjoyable games. I will be sad to see GR go.
Cave really need to start branching out beyond Xbox Live with their titles already. Focusing on the narrow Xbox demographic is probably the worst place for games like Cave produces if what I've read about sales of Deathsmiles 1 is right. Branch out a little already. Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 is probably one game too far for me in that series. More looking forward to the Bleach musou style game on the way this year to be honest. |
