Gungrave
Chrono Crusade
Gundam Seed
Technolyze
Wolf's Rain
(in no order of favorites)
Out of all the anime I have got this year these are the anime I'd say are good in story, beutiful animation, and there was never a dull moment watching them! If you haven't seen any of these and have a way of income do yourself a favor and pick them up! (do check anime out before buying lol just because I like it don't mean you will).

Hi RahXephon fan^__^
I don't think you are allowed to do "list" threads on this board.... I think this is going to get locked^__^;
But I have to say that you have WONDERFUL taste^__^ I like all of those, except for Gungrave which I haven't seen since I don't have G4TechTV right now^__^; Besides, I don't think it looks that good anyway...R.O.D. the TV series on the other hand looks very good^__^

Although list threads aren't exactly welcomed, they are allowed so long as you write reasons for your choices. Which, so far, there isn't.

Yeah. This is definitely a lame one... but what the hell.
What is the definition of released for this thread? DVD? Japanese television?
Monster
Samuari Champloo
Gungrave
Samurai 7
Bleach (I guess, as of the moment this is the only other to come to mind)
Reason why... Just about all the anime I watch is action and obviously these shows have plenty of action and decsent character developement. Monster is my most favorite that has been "released" this year. Just the darkness of the story and the characters seem so real. The other series are just fun to watch and I recieve some laughs so that's why I chose these.

Well, as far as I can remember there hasn't been a thread for this yet, and there seems to be one every year.
My list for this year:
Le Portrait de Petit Cossette
Visualy stunning, and had great atmosphere. Only saw the first 2 eps before it got licensed, but I definatly will be buying this one when it comes out on dvd.
Gankutsuou
I am in LOVE with this anime. It's animation is just as spellbinding as Cossette's and it's a remake of one of my favourite classics, The Count of Monte Cristo. I'm loving the sound track, the animation, and their sci-fi twist on the story. If they are going to stay true to the original story, I already know how it's going to end, but I'm watching it to see how exactly they go about doing it, because so far I find it very entertaining.
Other than those two, I haven't seen that much anime this year to stand out in my mind. The only other one worthy of my attention this year I guess was Aishiteruze Baby, a simple, slice of life shoujo I enjoyed.

Also what type of of releases are we talking about? Released here or japan? Because you might refer to anime being released here this year but in japan a year ago. I'm prety sure everyone is going to list thier fav fansub. Yup, free anime for everyone.

That is what I am wondering as well. Anime DVDs being released right now? Or Animes that are being released in Japan? Or does it really matter?
The only releases that I am getting and happy to get is:
Ghost in the shell:Stand alone complex. Always been a fan of Ghost in the shell, and so far I really enjoy how things are going. The reappearance of the laughing man? Far out.
And the other is the Twelve Kingdoms. I really would like this series to keep on going, but I don't think it is possible. I like this arc where we see Youko's development into a queen is leading. She has come a long way from that whiner that we seen in the first two DVDs.

I'm not, I'm sticking with Japanese time. Not really aware with what's been released here lately outside of Bamboo's shelf life.

The fighting spirit
Azumanga Daioh
For anime that has been shown in japan:
Gankutsuou
SunaBozu
Beck
Monster
...and of course....Naruto
Its 2:13am where i am so im going to bed, il give reasons for my picks tommorow
