I was at the Weekly Jump homepage and they got rid of Shaman King, but when I was reading preview summaries of the volumes on Animaxis.com they make it sound like it isn't the end.
Did it end?
Is there another series planned?
Are we going to never know the outcome of the Shaman Fight!?

It ended in issue 40, about a month ago.
Rumours say it might have a yomikiri or a series in Monthly Jump to finish it properly.

It did end about a month ago. All the shaman king fans on my friends list whined about it for about a week complaining that the ending sucked, and was rushed... or something like that.
The volume 13 is a volume. The manga is over in being serialized in the magazine, now they're just releasing the chapters in tankubon form. Like how we get naruto chapters here first in the magazine, and then later they release the chapters in tankubon form.

Has anybody watch the shaman king tv and read the manga? How does it compare to each other?

Basically, it was your typical "our battle has just begun!' (read: "my series is getting canned and I don't have the time/will/capacity to wrap it up nicely") ending that took any plotlines/developments that were going on and threw them out the window. I never was a particularly big fan of SK so I can't say I kept very good track of it (I would occasionally flip through it when I got a copy of Shonen Jump), but still, the ending made me go "wow...that was abrupt. And lacking in closure."
