That will be saved for if they let people outside the US get the print on demand service.
Or if they actualy take anything off hiatus.
That site was beyond awful though.
Do like being able to read the compaints of yesteryear about how bad their releases are and how little they listen to their audience.

Thank god. I stopped trying to navigate their site eons ago; it was so wretched.

They have good manga (Gakuen Alice and Maid-sama come to mind), although not as much as some of the others. And some of their staff did actually care for customer input, like when they switched to a really shoddy paper, and the fans got angry (especially because it was paired with a price hike), so they switched the paper back to a better, thicker quality. That staff member even came on the amazon forums to talk to the customers and see what he could do. That was awesome.
Better than Viz who doesn't reply to anything and ignores all customer feedback.

I still buy a few things from Tokyopop, but does actually USE their site? I buy all my manga either at B&N or RightStuf, and they do just fine for knowing release dates.

GEEZ, what took them so long? Were they not aware that everyone absolutely hated their barfed-up site since day 1, and that it's kind of been the laughingstock of fandom and industry?
The new mockup actually looks somewhat possible to navigate! I might actually visit it now.

Wow, so now I can finally find a list of their manga titles WITHOUT all the user/fan related content??
I used to have it bookmarked a while back, along with Viz etc as a reference to localized titles. ...and after "ANYONE can be a manga artist!" thing happened with all their Rising Stars of Manga, came fan this and fan that on the website, to where it was BARELY related to manga!
And now... well, wow it's actually about THEIR manga again! Yay! Not that I buy much from them anymore, but still a positive thing.

I pretty much agree with everyone here. When I got the email with this news, I was like "oh thank god" that old site was terrible. Neat concept executed terribly. It made it so hard to find any information on their titles, that I gave up going to the site all together. Which is sad before that redesign I used to visit it pretty regularly.

Thank god that horrible website is going away... Now I'll be able to FIND what I'm actually looking for: TokyoPop manga information not some random fan's crap.

Well gee. If only they weren't five to almost ten years too late getting rid of their awful and desperately wannabe web 2.0 social media train wreck of a site. Maybe they could have had a decent site when they still had popular books to publish. If they only hadn't wasted time trying to be everything except a publisher and had focused their company and website on that, they might be better off and not have laid off most of their employees.
Meanwhile, on the flip side, all the suckers.. er.. hopeful artists who posted their artwork and invested their time on the site surely must not be happy. Though I guess this would be true of whenever any social media or gaming site closes down. All the people that invested time working on the site and their own little nooks on it are having all of that deleted. Surely whatever fans they had follow them on this children's crusade are not going to be happy that the ship and all their stuff is being scuttled for a brand new one.
