Cool a full length movie that will have hardly any chance to come to the US

Hold on, so no tv series? Instead are we just getting the feature film or is it a combination of both? A feature film would have nicer animation but my worry is crunching the storyline, something which is a serious problem in anime movies.

Considering the source material is a volume long, they should do it justice.

What they're not letting on is that the film will be missing the last 40 minutes. Shaft will re-release the film 6 months later with the proper ending intact.

Is this Shaft's first feature-length production? Thank God they went with Bakemonogatari. Can you imagine how frustrating a Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei film would be?

It's a single story in one volume that's shorter than either of the Bakemonogatari books. It'll be fine.

So much "monogatari"... I can't talk about NisiOisin without tripping over my tongue a dozen times. "That new Shaft movie" I can work with!

Jumping the gun a little bit I think, both Bakemonogatari and Katanagatari have not gotten licensed either and they are both t.v. anime.

Awesome! I'm definitely happy to see Shinbo/Shaft working on a feature film (even if Shinbo isn't credited as director, it'll probably have his grubby little mits all over it).
I'm especially happy that it's a "Bakemonogatari" related production, since that's easily one of my favorite Shinbo/Shaft works (in fact, if I had found the last five episodes to be as good as the first eight, I wouldn't at all hesitate to call it a masterpiece).

heh, now maybe someday we can see what that first minute of animation really looks like as a feature... someday. At least we can look forward to possibility, rather than wishing for what will never be.
