First Bastard!! and Kurohime (which were scheduled for January 2010), and now Inubaka. What was that about Viz actually finishing what they start when it comes to manga?

Probably the sales of this book were absolutely horrid and there also might be also factors as well.
Can't say I blame them though, if it doesn't sell, it will actually be more damaging later on.

They should comment on the status of the Monster anime while they're at it. Pathetic.

What about B.O.D.Y.? Seems they've stopped printing that one as well. So sad.

And then they wonder why sales drop even more. Who the hell would start buying something from them when one out of two series gets dropped?

I second this volume 11 was supposed to come out back in Nov 2010. I just hope this is on hiatus as well and not canceled which would really suck there being 5 volumes left. Sigh their lack of communication is a punch in the stomach to people who wonder what's going on with these disappearing series.

Sweet, they've told us about one series. How about the others they haven't said jack about?

they haven't really said anything, its just a quick 1 line "huh? oh yeah hiatus" from a pr guy
I do wish they would be more forthcoming about what the hell they are up to, leaves us all to only speculate.

Urgh - I didn't realize that Inubaka joined the canned ranks.

Clearly that's no longer the case.
Out of the ones that do/may involve rights - Bastard!!, MAYBE Kurohime, Zatch Bell!! and quite possibly Battle Angel Alita: Last Order now that all of the Shueisha material is now out in North America (or is there still more?) - we have:
B.O.D.Y.
Inubaka
Strawberry 100%
Reborn!
Am I missing any? Crimson Hero doesn't have any further volumes solicited either, from what I can see.
Strawberry 100% is the one that hurt me the most.

Teriyaki: I don't think the sales were that bad if it made it to 17 volumes, but the last one must've done pretty horribly, if Amazon's sales rank is any indication. I'm just irked that they didn't announce it sooner, given how close I am to the end. *sigh* Can't they just do what Tokyopop did with B'TX 16 and raise the prices on the last couple of volumes? Or maybe go the Del Rey Route and release the last five books in bigger volumes?
Ed: Not really surpised about B.O.D.Y. doing bad, seeing as it lost stream pretty early.
Dmon: Well, I imagine the only solution here is to encourage more people to buy their back-stock.

Good point, but Bastard!! and Kurohime never left Shueisha. Kurohime might have reached the online-only chapters, which could potentially require a different license, but Bastard!!'s release never reached the Ultra Jump chapters yet; Volume 20 would have been still nothing but Shonen Jump chapters and it wouldn't be until half-way into Volume 22 that we'd start getting the Ultra Jump chapters.

The next Excel Saga, We Were There, and Kaze Hikaru were also listed as canceled, but some sites have summer/fall 2011 and spring 2012 dates for them now.
EDIT: And the different rights thing for Bastard!! is BS. D.Gray-man was in Shonen Jump, Akamaru Jump, and Jump Square for Volume 19, and Viz published it three months after the last volume.

Since when did Viz ever finish what they start? I have Urusei Yatsura, Bio Booster Armour Guyver and Patlabor that says otherwise.
This is why I don't purchase any anime or manga till the complete series has seen a US release and trust me waiting for Animeigo to finish the Urusei Yatsura anime back in the day was a bitch.

Why cancel something so close to the end? Why not release an omnibus with the last 5 in it?
