What is the holdup man?

Manga Entertainment just announced a June date for Stand Alone Complex on Blu-Ray, but it's only the OVAs (which apparently had a different dub cast) and Solid State Society. Where is the main series for English speaking territories at non-ridiculous prices?

It's been out in Japan since 2009 complete with the dub (but strangely not the DTS tracks from the special edition DVDs), but each season is split into two parts at $200 each.

And 2.0 with the original 1996 Dub is still the only Blu-Ray edition of the original movie we can get.

I read somewhere (can't recall where) that it's unlikely we'll ever see the main Stand Alone Complex series on Bluray over here. I think it was Manga UK or maybe even Manga US saying that the JP company (Bandai Visual I'm guessing) won't allow it. Neutral

I don't know if they'll ever get the main seasons over here, but it is available on Blu-Ray in Japan. But if it did come out on Blu-Ray it would be nice for Blu-Ray owners. I suppose it depends on how the sales do for the OVAs and SSS.

Well, whatever. Maybe if the Japanese blu-ray release was around a 100 bucks per season...I could see myself dipping into it. SAC was one of the best shows out there anyway - I personally love it to death. I can't really give people a hard time for it, even with a $400 price tag. :3

So... >:3 Instead, I'll give luffy a hard time for not buying it, and instead getting all impatient, and...foolish, with KnK. >:3

Wait, his Kara no Kyoukai decision wasn't foolish. It was just...able.

And I've personally never been into GITS much at all, no matter how many times I try to get into it on [as], just doesn't grab me. Confused

You guys are talking about spending $400, the thing is, if you want 2nd Gig too, you're paying $800 Shocked . And I agree John Casey, SAC is an awesome show and definitely worth that price. Maybe Honneamise will grace us with an inflated R1 release? Laughing

It is one of my favorite series and I would love to have it on BD, there would have to be a significant increase in video quality for me to shell out $800. I don't think the S.E. ones that I already have are all that bad so I'm with J.C. that it would take about a $100-$150 price point for me to scoop em up.

Waitwaitwaitwait.

It's $400 for the whole thing. Not per season.

Yeah, it's such a shame we haven't seen any decent Ghost in the Shell BDs over here.

My thoughts exactly. If it was $400 for the entire thing I would have had this long ago. But 200 for 13 episodes with no english subtitles and a dub track which I believe (but certainly do not quote me on this) is not HD is just not worth it. You're much better off sticking with your R1 dvds, imho.
