While browsing through amazon, I came across the Chobits boxset.

Chobits Boxed Set
by Clamp
Paperback: 760 pages (3 or 4 books?)
Publisher: TokyoPop; (June 1, 2004)
ISBN: 1591828376
List Price: $39.99

Any other news on this and it's availability? Also is tokyopop coming out with more boxset soon?

They put it out when the 8th volume was released. It included a Chi figurine and the 8th volume; the other seven were seperate. And unless TP has a major franchise thats super popular (and within reasonable length), they won't release a boxset for most of their series because they know they won't sell unless the series has an exceptional and devoted fanbase like Chobits or Cowboy Bebop.

This isn't the empty box that came with the 8th volume (sold for 19.99). This is a boxset.

Amazon must have made a mistake then, or confused it with the Rayearth boxset. If your asking if they will release a boxset that includes all the volumes, I wouldn't think so.

Are you sure you know what you're talking about?
No the description for Rayearth is totally different for Chobits.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1591828376/qid=1095044562/sr=ka-1/ref=pd_ka_1/104-6831096-6422350

They havn't relased it yet, but I have a feeling it's the first part of Chobits for 40 buck with a box.

That makes no sense. If they wanted to release a boxset, they would do it for all 8 mangas, not the first four or three. And if they are going to release two "limited edition" boxsets, one for the first half one for the latter half, then thats just money grubbing Evil or Very Mad

Yes, it does look like it'd be volumes 1-4, going by the number of pages listed from the set and adding up the page numbers from Tokyopop's site.

Also, check out what they're doing for Peach Girl and Ragnarok. I think if it's really that important to get the box for your manga...you can deal with having to buy them in sets. They're really not that much more expensive.

But they already released a box. For some reason I see this as a money grubbing tactic, don't ask me why. Then again, I think all manga boxs are stupid.

Well it's only money grubbing tactics if people who already brought the set to buy it again....which I doubt they'll do. They do this for anime all the time, they sell the dvd plus box and then later sell a boxset with all the DVD for people who havn't brought the dvd individually.

Well I was looking into buying Chobits, because I havn't own it yet. It's more entricing when they can a group of manga together and sell it in a box. The boxset will mostly sell for around 30-35 buck on Amazon with thier 30% discount. I also got the Initial D (3pack) that only cost 15 buck at radioshack, so that's a good deal. I'm just wondering if there's any information on this.

Volume 8 with a empy box and figure cost about 20 dollar, which is kind of expensive.

They're rereleasing Chobits in 2 box sets? Huh, weird. Well, I have the box that came with the 8th book (made my sister buy if for Christmas, lol). I mean, I know Tokyopop is doing that for Peach Girl and CCS, but that's understandable, the old versions were left-to-right and mostly out of print (it took me forever to find those first 8 Peach Girls) but Chobits is not hard to find and it was printed right-to-left the first time. Oh well, whatever. I'm not buying it.
