So it's basically just a side-project set in the same timeline? That could be interesting, although the whole "boys and girls" bit means it will probably be angsty as hell. More's the pity - I liked Lelouch in the series precisely because he was a bit of a ruthless schemer. |

There might be some ova(s) , but it wont be a continuation with the anime though. Most likely a different story mode base on similar time-lime.
spoiler[Its a good show though with a good ending especially.] |

no. that would not really be possible. And while it was a brilliant series, somethings must simply come to an end. |

From what I can gather, yes. Certainly not a continuation of the "Lelouch story" directly, but it's set in 2017, which is the year R1 takes place, so it may indirectly deal with some of the consequences of Lelouch's actions. Seeing as the title translates to "Code Geass Side Story", don't expect anything more than a few fleeting references though. They'll probably be wary of punching holes is what is, relatively speaking, a nice neat canon.
I don't know, Suzaku set the bar pretty high ![]() |

That's the thing, though - Suzaku's angst was never portrayed as a good thing, at least in Season One. It always got him in trouble, and in any case was interspersed with Lelouch's awesome ruthlessness. Whereas this story will probably be soaked in it. |

Can we really be so sure about that though?
Lelouch wasn't exactly made of stone either and calling him ruthless only reflects a certain part of his character. Whatever else one might say about him, he did have a wider emotional range than, say, Light Yagami. Then again, I consider this a good thing myself. In addition, I think it's rather premature to try and compare "angst" levels based on little more than a short paragraph. The most I would say is that the basic premise obviously has the potential to end in a tragic or bittersweet manner, but this says nothing about how the characters will react to any events in particular along the way. For all we know, the total amount of "angst" could be lower or equivalent when everything is said and done this time around. Therefore, I'd rather wait and see what actually happens. |

I don't think it was the only part of his character, although it was the most interesting part to watch. I liked the fact that he was Britannian through and through (ruthless and kin-centered, to the point where he left his army in the dust on the possibility of threat to his sister) even as he was trying to bring the Britannian Empire down. His flaws seemed very real and consistent. Suzaku, on the other hand, felt much more like a typical protagonist in these types of stories, although I liked the twist that spoiler[he is a murderer]. |

There will be an R3, spoiler[Lelouch isn't dead as long as they don't want him to be, theft left the ending quite cotroversial.]
This smaller side project seems like an attempt to stir up interest in a third season next year. [EDIT: Spoiler tag added. Please use them in the future. - Key] |

I agree, but perhaps we just have a different way of expressing it.
Actually, we don't even know if this project is going to premiere this year. ![]() Right now, the actual scale of this production remains unknown. Considering they've taken over a year to reveal anything concrete and still haven't specified the format, I wouldn't be too surprised if it turned out to be a full length TV series after all. Just as well, we don't know the schedule for any subsequent follow-up projects, let alone a hypothetical sequel. Nevertheless, more Code Geass doesn't necessarily imply more Lelouch. That's what the loudest "hardcore" fans want to believe, but there are other possibilities. It's entirely feasible that an actual sequel will eventually be made, yes, but speaking of an "R3" is pure speculation. Particularly when we consider that not even the monstrous Gundam franchise, which also happens to be Sunrise's most milked property by default, followed that exact pattern in terms of both naming and -more importantly- content. After the story of Char and Amuro ended, regardless of its arguably ambiguous conclusion, events moved forward without either of them. The sequels avoided dealing with the entire issue. Nothing should be taken for granted. |

What would they even do with a surviving Lelouch? The whole point of the ending of R2 is that spoiler[the world is more or less at peace, and they'll work out their problems by talking instead of more warfare. Where's the potential story? ]
