2010, it was a year when we lost a lot of personality in anime. Peter Fernedez's death was a major blow to American anime fandom.

It's in alphabetical order by surname...

Wow, there were a few on those that I didn't know. A shame so much talent left us last year.

Man 2010 was a hard year for me as an anime fan. So many important and talented people left us, some far to soon.
Satoshi Kon and Nujabes had so much left to accomplish and they were ripped away from us. It pains me to think that people who were able to effect my life so greatly with their art had to leave us so soon. Satoshi Kon's worked completely redefined what anime could accomplish and his work touched so many people. And Nujabes was truly a pioneer of music, he was the greatest producer on the planet and could have done so much more.

And on top of that there was Amy Frosyth, Umanosuke Iida, Carl Macek (love him or hate him), Koichi Motohashi, Yoshinobu Nishizaki, and Takeshi Shudo have all left a whole in the industry that may never be filled. Sad year.

Yeah, I can remenber hearing about almost all of these guys deaths. Besides Daisuke Gouri, I think Satoshi Kon's death was the most tragic of 2010. The others listed will be missed as well. May they rest in peace and never be forgotten by us Otakus.

While I can't say the same about knowing all those listed, I still feel great sadness at knowing such talented and passionate people have been taken from the world. Crying or Very sad

I thought Shin-chan's creator died this year... or was it last year? Or is his name there and my eyes are just bad?

The only one I really knew here was Kawashima, Alive's creator. I finally read the end of Alive and loved it and was satisfied. I hope they start releasing the rest of the books here in the states again soon. I've gotten all the books they've released here in America, but have been keeping up with the scanlations because they're so damn slow. I'd like to own the series too y'know so hurry up!!

Great series he created. Hope he and all the rest of them rest in peace Anime smile

I missed commenting on this earlier in the year, so I'd like to say how much I'm going to miss Amy Forsyth's work. Chrono Crusade is my favorite manga, and there's an obvious amount of love in the translation--the characters all seem to "speak" with very strong voices. I really appreciate the hard work she put into it.

Also, I'm still not over Kon's death. Sad Like others have said, it's been a really awful year for deaths in the industry. Lots of people I admire and respect on the list.

Man, it's been a rough year for the anime/manga community. Sad Even though only one or two of these deaths hit me hard personally, there are several more whose work I recognize. Thanks to all of them for what they were able to share with us.

Looking through this list, I remember reading the news when most of these people passed. You never really think about just how much talent has disappeared this year until all the names are in a list like that.

I hope they all rest in peace.

Daisuke Gouri will be missed. He was the champ, Mr. Satan, after all.
