Well, as an avid reader of fanfic(and gradually emerging writer) it has come to my attention that anime fanfiction is a bit.... segregated from the other areas of fan writing. Not that there isn't crossover, but if you hang out on a Star Wars, or for example Incredibles fanfiction board, they don't so much look down on anime writers as.... not understand them? I mean, for example, instead of using already established terms like Slash and FemSlash, instead opting for the terms Yaoi and Yuri(Even though this is incorrect usage). Why do you think this happened?

As for favorites, what are your favorite anime authors? If you enjoy Drabon Ball fanfic, I greatly enjoy Consacra and Cantare, 2 stories you can find by searching the names on fanfiction.net. I also really like any fic by WegatheBlueSun, though he/she mainly does Hokuto no Ken and Zatch Bell when it comes to anime.

As for complaints, I am sick and tired of people ragging on concritters(Constructive Criticizers) and helpful flamers for simply having a negative view about a story. As a supporter(not a member. I can't spell well enough to be a member) of the literate union, I want to be helped by my reviewers. It helps me become a better person.

Surely both your web browser and word processor have their own respective spell checkers, do they not? When my spell checkers identify a spelling mistake, I try to write out the word longhand at least five to ten times (kills two birds with one stone, don't you know).

When I was in my early years of high school I would read fanfiction, but I haven't bothered with it in quite a long time. The one author I can remember following is this guy, who wrote quite a few decent-to-good Evangelion stories.

Yeah, I'm an avid fanfic reader. I don't read as much as I used to, but I still do so (like yesterday, I spent from 11:30 AM, when I woke up, until 11:30 PM reading stories on ff.net, because I was still getting over my cold and I didn't feel like doing anything else - okay, well, I cleaned and ate and took a shower, but otherwise my butt was right in front of the computer screen).

If you look at my ff.net page, you'll see I have 400+ faved stories and 50+ faved authors. (And 3 attempts to write fanfics, only one of them complete. Writing fics just isn't my thing - I constantly come up with stories in my head and will flesh a few out, but I don't put it on paper). And this doesn't count all the fics on other sites that I've bookmarked.

Something I miss about fanfics are the fansites created for them. I remember when anipike was really popular, and people were big on creating their own fanpages filled with their fanfics and fanarts. That was fun. Don't get me wrong, I like ff.net and how neatly organized and compact it is, but I kinda miss the personalized touches and more freedom maintaining your own site allows. A few authors still do it though, which is nice.

Also, another nice thing about ff.net is that keeping stories in similar formats makes it easier and quicker when copying my favorite stories onto my hard drive - yes, I do that; it's saved me several times from forever losing a favorite that was taken down. You think that's silly? Let me tell you what I used to do. I used to copy the stories, shrink 'em down to font size 4, and then print 'em out double-sided. I don't even want to think about the number of pages I printed out. Several I've saved since it's the only format I have of the fanfic any more (the site it was hosted on is gone, the Wayback Machine is no help, yadda yadda).

I'd like to think my time spent on anime/manga has been at a 95:5 ratio: 95% spent in fandom, about 5% spent on the actual canon. And I've been at this for about 12 years. (And I'm betting this ratio is still probably off... probably closer to 99:1).

Pathetic? Maybe, but I'd like to think we all have our quirks.

Back when my interest in anime itself was still beginning (around 5 years ago) I was an avid fanfiction reader. I got into BL and some of my favorite series because of fanfiction. I had favorite authors and an extremely lengthy list of fanfiction saved to my favorites (because of course I didn't have an FF account.) It made up a huge portion of my involvement with anime/manga in general. I even moved to encompass original fiction too, on sites like Fictionpress. I loved going around and reading stories. But at some point I began to drift away from fanfiction and more towards fanart. I suppose it might be because some of my favorite authors stopped writing or I just grew out of it. I would like to get into it but I'm having trouble finding series that suit my tastes.

Right now the only fanfiction I reccomend, or am currently reading, is Lightning on the Wave's AU Harry Potter series. Quite a delightful read and you can pull her name up by typing in 'Lightning on the Wave' on Fanfiction.net.

@Willag: Since I'd like to get back into fanfiction I was wondering if you could provide a link to your FF profile or recommend some good stories.
