"I'd be really happy if we could get End Card to draw one for us." I was a bit confused by this line because it makes it seem "End Card" is a person drawing something, when I assumed "End Card" meant something like this, the illustration they show at the end of a TV show (so, what she wants drawn, and not who's drawing it). |

Yeah I think that's a goof, she talks really fast but I think the line was エンドカードを書いて..." On vaguely related note, OreImo seems to have endcards from various authors (like Kirino is describing) but they don't seen to be on ANN stream (luckily they are often part of the ending theme). There is a gallery here. http://www.oreimo-anime.com/special/index.html#ed_card |

They're all really nice too. The Twitter icon with Accelerator next to Kirino really amuses me for some reason... |

Was it me or did they make a huge plot jump out of no where? 0.0 It really through me off a bit.

Yeah, this came out of nowhere, but there is a reason. Apparently the original plot of the novel was Kirino getting her novel idea stolen by someone else (Fate, who was repurposed here). Kyousuke has to then fight for her or something like that. The problem is that Dengeki Bunko, the publisher of the OreImo novels, recently had a very public scandal wherein an author basically copied the plot of the BakaTest novel series. So the anime was forced to change the plot to avoid more embarrassment to that company. This episode REALLY could've used at least a short expository monolouge regarding the novels publication and popularity though. I thought I had missed an episode somehow. |

There is a slightly delicious taste of iron in that statement.
Do I dare say that it tastes a bit ... Irony? |

So basically they tried to avoid their own scandal by doing a re-write of an episode that basically attacks studios for doing re-writes? Seems like they should have just skipped it rather than re-write it if there was a way. Personally, as far as the direction of the show goes, I'm really not feeling these episodes. I liked the first bunch of episodes where she was a closet otaku "coming out" and trying to adapt to her new, more open fandom. The sudden jump from poorly written story to published novel to anime (not even a manga in between?) is way too fast. There's no build up, no excitement, no drama (unless you count the mock date, I don't), it just happens. Just feels like convenient, lazy writing to me. I imagine in an episode or two she'll have a best selling video game as well. I kinda want to see her crash and burn just so she can go back to her normal otaku lifestyle, deflate her ego a bit. I kinda sympathize with the studio guy in glasses. Sure he's a jerk, but Kuroneko is right, nobody should get off as easily as she has, especially when everyone is sitting there pointing out all of the faults in her story. Right about now the anime writing is getting a C+ from me, it's kinda sad that I'm more interested in what the brother is up to in a moe series... On a side note, I did notice the improved sub timing. Thanks for listening, Justin! Emerje |

"End Card" thats what those are called. I had no clue there was a name for them, just thought they were a nice "thank you, please watch the next episode" filler shot. I do enjoy them. The show does feel a bit rushed but it tends to happen in a 12 episode series. Either not enough story or too much to fit into the alloted number of episodes. Its sad how Kyousuke "hates" Kirino...but I don't think he hates her so much, more than likely its a slight tinge of jealousy. Why else would he be coming to her defense? Only four episodes to go, I foresee more rushing...hopefully not too bad. Excellent show so far, here is to a great ending! On the technical side of things I appreciate the hard work put into improving the subtitling and buffering problems. The different color subtitles and placement on the screen were awesome. I had a much easier time following the fast dialog. As for the buffering, this episode was far better than episode 7. There were only a few hiccups, one around the middle and a few near the end. Thanks for the hard work. |

I got a kick out of some of the ideas Kirino proposed to the anime producers. Different ED themes each episode & End Cards! lol....
Apparently Ito Makoto & Masunari Koji didn't enjoy the episode very much... (everything written below is from an episode 8 discussion thread on My Anime List) Ito Makoto, the producer of "School Days", "11eyes", tweeted that the episode 8 of Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai made him feel quite unpleasant. The episode was about a dispute between an anime producer, who wants to alter the story of the original novel to make the anime more catchy and profitable, and the original author, who opposes to the alternation. Ito said the episode exaggerated the discordance between the two sides and they should not have made it into a joke.
Anime director Masunari Koji was also depressed to watch the episode and said "I realized how anime producers are looked by the original authors." |

I'd be shocked if original creators had this level of power. I am under the impression that once sold, the producers own the work and can do more or less as they please with it. Haven't there been cases of this in the past, where the creator's only control option was to yank their name from the credits? Yet here we have a legal minor and her equally minor sibling and friends in a negotiation about production details?
Also, I can't help but see the money rolling away in the background scenes. How flush was the budget on this show? In this episode, they even have dialog plastered over a muted, original ending song. I'm likely in a minority on this, but I actually like it when a series uses the same opening and ending sequences. Can anyone offhand hum the tune of, say, the third ending from this series? Aside from saving money, I feel they build a consistent character and feeling for the show, whereas a string of single use sequences usually do not. Perhaps the enhanced CD sales are worth it...
Ditto. Why's she so angry all the time? Kirino's great at school and sports, she's a well-paid model and a instantly successful author. Yet she stomps around and bites the head off anyone who dares contradict her. I just don't get the tsundere appeal, I suppose. Having my druthers, this would all turn out to be a dream sequence, and Kirino turns out to be a chubby, institutionalized only-child orphan glued to the TV, spinning a fantasy about how the world revolves around her. Then I could spare some compassion for her. Could be considered a spoiler, but only if you are dense and couldn't see it coming. spoiler[In the next episode I think she starts to notice something while playing an eroge. So her almost 100% Tsun could start melting away into at least 90% Tsun 10% Dere in the next few episodes.] |
