When I first read the article, I was thinking I was going to read that the affected disc had Birdy Season One Disc 2 accidentally encoded on it.

Same here. Who here thinks heads are going to roll for this? First Birdy Part 1 and now DBZ. What's next? Index/Railgun when that finally comes out?

I remember this happening to me with the Full Metal Alchemist movie (the two disc version). I got two copies of the special features and not the movie.

Holy crap, FUNImation step your damn game up. I understand once, but this is like the second time in a couple of months. I stopped preordering their products a while ago and I'm sticking to it. I just don't trust them.

So which anime characters do you think might be working in their factory?

Someone reasonably competant since FUNi does release a crap-load more incident free series than they do faulty ones?

first they screw up ending credits, then mess up birdy, now this, are they rushing to get things out, or what, what ever happened to QC????? snap out of it funi, you are going to ruin what little rep you have gotten back from the last time you screwed up.......
and I would have to agree, there are people still buying this????? I mean sure they are cheap, but with the dragon boxes out, why still buy this one,

A bit harsh but true. I don't want to see Funimation turn into ADV and Bandai Entertainment. But I agree, who the hell is still buying those sets. I thought the Dragon Boxes were sort of an apology for those sets.

These errors would be happening at the Replication plant, not on Funi's watch. Funi hands off the master disc files and packaging artwork files, and from that point on, it's 100% the replicator's responsibility, all the way through to the shrink wrapping.
Now, whether Funi needs to switch to a new replication vendor... THAT'S another story. But there are usually logistical nightmares involved with such a switch and a ton of extra work and costs involved (basically everything for every disc they have in print would have to be delivered to a new vendor, with a whole new round of QC -- and holy crap Funi's catalog is huge). So that really isn't an easy decision to make.

At least they have the decency to recall/and or fix stuff when they mess up.....unlike some other companies.....

They're really, really inexpensive. And some people still enjoy the English dub Faulconer soundtrack.
I personally wouldn't touch these sets. Dragon Box or bust.

I applaud you for being reasonable and not just focusing on the mistakes like most of the posters in this thread.
And thank you Justin for enlightening folks on how things really work, though sadly most will probably just ignore it . *sigh*
