A.D. Police (TV) |
I was interested in this because I like "buddy cop" shows, but only watched the first episode. Ugly characters designs, sloppy animation, and no indication that the plot would go anywhere of any interest at all. |
All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku (TV) |
|
Amatsuki (TV) |
Bland, bland, bland. Plus the idea of wearing one's hair as a scarf just kinda irritated me. |
Arc the Lad (TV) |
Simplistic and bland. |
Basilisk (TV) |
Combat anime that's just an excuse for showcasing the wacky super-powers the writer(s) dreamed up for each combatant. This sort of thing bores me. |
Blassreiter (TV) |
Watched first episode and nothing stood out as a hook to make me want to see more. |
Bleach (TV) |
|
Boys Be... (TV) |
This appealled for the slice-of-lifeyness, but the stories being told were just trite romance cliches with ho-hum characters. |
Brain Powered (TV) |
I watched up to ep. 22 of this before calling it quits. There are some interesting world-building ideas at work, but man, it's like the production staff had no idea how to string a coherent story together. The overall product is a muddled mess of events that seem to have very little causal relation to each other. "And now, Character X disappears!" "And now, we are all going to fly over here!" "And now, there is a battle out of nowhere!" Just awful. |
Buso Renkin (TV) |
I dislike Bleach, and this is so blatantly a Bleach clone that they practically didn't bother to file the serial numbers off. |
C – Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility (TV) |
Watched about 2/3 of this, but it didn't really seal the deal in terms of making me want to know how things turned out. |
Ceres, Celestial Legend (TV) |
Got 3/4 through this series and realized that I was supposed to be rooting for Aya and her broody true-love to live happily ever after... and I would rather have seen them both pushed off a cliff. Pity, because I quite liked the Yuuhi character. |
Chrono Crusade (TV) |
|
City Hunter (TV) |
Watched 20+ episodes, and decided that watching the same plot unfold for another 100+ episodes would be time better spent sampling other shows. |
Claymore (TV) |
Watched volume 1. At the end, I didn't feel any sympathy for Clare and the other Claymores, didn't have any interest in whether she would go darkside or not, and didn't see a point in continuing. |
Colorful (TV) |
Fun to watch as a novelty in a club or other group-setting with folks who won't take it too seriously, but definitely not something worth spending time on outside of that. |
Corrector Yui (TV) |
Watched volume 1. This actually seems like a nice, quality sort of show - nice character designs and a solid setup for the sort of story it is - but it's target at a fairly young audience, and I didn't feel a need to keep watching. |
Cutey Honey Flash (TV) |
|
Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure (TV) |
|
Elfen Lied (TV) |
Watched volume 1. I have a deep loathing for "infantilized" characters, so the handling of the Neu character (and Nana, to a lesser extent) made this an easy drop. |
Ergo Proxy (TV) |
|
Folktales from Japan (TV) |
|
Gasaraki (TV) |
Cast of characters was DEEPLY annoying to me. In one episode, a character is being chased by a monster, and I was actively rooting for the monster to win. |
Gate Keepers (TV) |
This brand of parody that plays the tropes seriously but light-hearedly doesn't work for me. It just comes off as not funny enough to be a comedy, and not serious enough to be a drama, and just stuck somewhere in the middle of blandville. |
Ghost Hound (TV) |
Too pretentious without enough sense of meaningful drama to back it up. |
Green Green (TV) |
|
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) |
|
Gunbuster 2: Diebuster (OAV) |
|
Hayate the Combat Butler (TV) |
It seems like it'll be very funny, but I already have Sgt. Frog in my life to give me my fill of this brand of self-referential comedy. |
Hellsing (TV) |
|
Human Crossing (TV) |
I watched about 3/4 of this, and felt like I'd seen what it has to offer. A good anthology show of this sort should leave me feeling like it was saying something new (or at least interesting) about the human condition, but these all seemed to be hitting the same "being a self-absorbed twit is bad" button over and over. |
Inuyasha (TV) |
|
InuYasha: The Final Act (TV) |
|
ItaKiss (TV) |
I'm supposed to find the Kotoko's stalkerish obsession with an arrogant jerk to be romantic and the epitome of true love? Errrr... no. |
Jing: King of Bandits (TV) |
|
Kiddy Grade (TV) |
|
(The) Legend of Black Heaven (TV) |
Like the concept, but there's too much treading water in the plot. I got bored. |
Madlax (TV) |
|
Meine Liebe (TV) |
|
Miami Guns (TV) |
|
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory (OAV) |
|
Monochrome Factor (TV) |
|
Nabari no Ou (TV) |
|
Naruto (TV) |
|
Nerima Daikon Brothers (TV) |
The gimmick was clever for a couple episodes, but the pattern went from clever to "too repetitious" by about 5-6 episodes in. |
Noein - to your other self (TV) |
Found the art-style to be a struggle, and the concept/characters/plot didn't capture my interest enough to be worth it. |
Noir (TV) |
Pretentious. |
Orphen (TV) |
I don't respond well to this lukewarm sort of fantasy-action-comedy genre. |
Piano (TV) |
I usually love this sort of quiet slice-of-life series. But for a title like this to work, there needs to be at least *some* spark of personality or charisma to the characters that makes you want to spend time with them. I got halfway through this series and getting increasingly irritated at how bland and passive the main character is. Not worth continuing. |
Rune Soldier (TV) |
I don't respond well to this lukewarm sort of fantasy-action-comedy genre. |
S-CRY-ed (TV) |
Too much open-ended, plot-spinning-its-wheels shonen combat stuff. |
She, The Ultimate Weapon (TV) |
Watched 4 episodes. Chise's kicked-puppy personality is too close to the "infantilization" trope that is my one huge turn-off in anime. |
Speed Grapher (TV) |
Utterly cardboard, by-the-numbers monster-of-the-week-ish series. The only thing that stands out as having any personality are a few of the shock-value mutants... but that will only get you so far. |
Stellvia (TV) |
Bland characters in a tired, cliche setting. |
Super GALS! (TV) |
Watched and enjoyed the first season, but I think I pretty much 'get' what the series has to offer and don't need to see more. (Especially with the second season lacking the dub... these type of lightweight gag shows work best for me when I can have them on in the background while doing housework, etc.) |
Tenjho Tenge (TV) |
I really adore Masataka Takayanagi. Too bad the show wants me to be fascinated by every character *other* than him. :P |
Tokyo Underground (TV) |
Bog-standard shonen combat trope-show. Needs a lot more individuality to the characters to keep me coming back for this sort of thing. |
Trinity Blood (TV) |
|
Virtua Fighter (TV) |
|
When They Cry - Rei (OAV) |
|
Wind: A Breath of Heart (TV) |
Low rent, cookie cutter visual novel adaptation. Blah. |
You're Under Arrest (TV) |
The sitcommy style was pleasant enough for a season, but not enough to hold my interest for two. |
You're Under Arrest: Full Throttle (TV 3) |
|
Zatch Bell (TV) |
|
