I was introduced to these films by a co-worker who hates anime. That was a bit weird but I guess since it's not anime it must be ok for him. In any case when I saw this I could not believe what I was seeing. The drama that unfolded was just incredibly gory yet so full of surprising depth. There was a bloodbath sure, but one with great meaning behind it. It was a bit painful to watch, even with the comedic moments that made me ashamed to laugh at, but this was a brilliant film.

After watching the first one, I borrowed the sequel to see how much further it can go. There was more of the same type of story, but also something different hidden behind the vail of the original story. It was a nice, but there were a few annoying details that just really kept distracting me. One was that whenever anyone dies they hold a meeting to discuss what just happenned and to cry over it; every death does not need a monologue. There was also some political propaganda that was introduced that would have improved the movie if left out as well. The ending got a bit too artsy and this film could have done with at least 40 minutes worth of cuts. However the premise was still enough to make the overall product enjoyable and it was certainly well worth watching.

I'll be hones I only went to the theatres for this because I am a big Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan and I still watch anything that Sarah Michelle Gellar does just so I can say "ooh look Buffy," even if it is not the same character. A bit corny but, "I make my own fun." Still this movie really impressed me the story, the concept behind it and the film itself was very impressive and this quickly became one of my incredibly few horror favorites.

I can't believe I actually saw the whole thing, I had tried to watch it before but it was so horrible I skipped a lot, but a friend came over one day and wanted to watch it so I sat through the entire thing. The plot is weak the charcters are poorly written, and the acting is bad. I have never gotten into the Initial D series either but I like the drifting, so I wanted to see it in live action. I'll say this about the movie, good stunt drivers. But that was the only part of the movie that was worth watching and even that gets old.

I actually saw this after I saw the US version and I was dissapointed. I had seen Ringu before I saw The Ring US remake and I liked the origional version of that movie a lot more so I was expecting Juon to be even better than the remake, somehow just didn't make it. I suppose that there were some things that Ringu did with cinematography and storytelling that this movie just could not match, and somehow they managed to get right in the remake. I still like the concept so I did buy it but not exactly something I re-watch.

A friend of mine who had introduced me to the Battle Royale movies lent this to me when the US remake had come out. I am not really a fan of horror films but there are occasional ones that I enjoy, however I wasn't going to touch The Ring with a ten foot pole, it looked completely stupid. My friend told me it was a remake showed me this original and I got into it. It is by no means a masterpiece of cinema but it was interesting, filmed very well, told a story well, and the characters did not seem fidgety or awkward as they usually do in horror flicks.

This was the utter crap I had expected it to be. I was shocked at how bad it was because I had seen the original and that prompted me to go out buy a ticket and sit through this. This did not have any of the appeal of the original and it was hard to believe it was a remake of the same film. I mean on the outside I guess it looked the same but if you truly sit down and watch both of these films, this and the Japanese original Ringu, you can see how far apart the two films are in quality. It doesn't matter how much money, time, and effort the filmmakers put into this, they made and ended up with crap. Actually it doesn't show that they put "any" effort into it.
