“FLCL is an infectious, rock-fueled cartoon and “Last Dinosaur” is one of the most beloved and on-point pieces of music to be featured in any anime,” says James Curtiss, Director of A&R at CMH Label Group. “We've taken the power-pop, bubble-gum punk drive of the original and translated it into a soaring, vibrant string piece, creating an alternative reality theme, which is fitting if you've ever seen the show.”
“Last Dinosaur” follows the recent release of “Lend Me Your Voice” featuring GRAMMY nominated cellist Tina Guo. A reinterpretation from the hit 2021 musical sci-fi fantasy BELLE, it manages to maintain the piece's power and grandeur while infusing a sense of grace and intimacy that only VSQ and Tina can provide.
For 25 years Vitamin String Quartet (VSQ) has been establishing classical crossover as a genuine force in contemporary music. Fresh off high-profile placements in the Netflix and Shondaland original hit series Bridgerton, VSQ has "reached a mainstream, global audience" (Variety) and "charmed the world with their classical covers" (Nylon). Earlier this year, VSQ released their album VSQ Performs the Hits of 2024, featuring covers of today's top stars, from Olivia Rodrigo, to Chappell Roan, to Sabrina Carpenter. They also shared a compilation of spellbinding and innovative renditions of Taylor Swift's music, with VSQ Performs Taylor Swift. The album earned them the #1 spot on Billboard's Classic Albums, Indie Store Album Sales, and Classical Crossover Album charts.
Across over 300 releases, VSQ have produced cutting-edge string renditions of a highly eclectic mix of artists, erasing boundaries between classical, dance, hip-hop, rock, and pop. From Lil Nas X to Björk, Studio Ghibli to gothic metal, VSQ approaches their renditions with respect and care, breathing new life into music they already love. The Quartet's string stylings have also been featured in HBO's Westworld, ABC's Modern Family, the Judd Apatow-directed The King of Staten Island, among many others. In addition, the ensemble has appeared onscreen with 30 Seconds to Mars for an episode MTV Unplugged as well as an episode of Gossip Girl.
VSQ is currently on their US tour, performing music from Otaku, the hits of 2024, their songs from Bridgerton, and much more. All dates are on sale now and listed below.
