This is a full day of activities for junior and high school students who love to create and view Japanese-style and international comics, anime and Visual Arts in general. All ages are welcome.
There will be many opportunities to purchase the perfect plushie, toy, soundtrack, DVD, comic book, gift, art supplies and more. Anime 101, Anime Palace , Collectors Universe, StandUp Comics and Anime V are amongst our goods vendors and exhibitors.
Local manga, comic book and animation artists will be leading live art demos and presenting tips for the young people attending the event. A local comic book company will be on hand to review artist portfolios and give suggestions and critiques of your artwork.
This art-oriented art has many different focuses: First and foremost, let there be art! There will be opportunities to paint a mural, get tips from professional and teen artists, and create a personal 'zine. Junior high and high school students from the tri-city area have been invited to have their artwork on display. Members of a local high school art club will be on hand promoting their 'zines. Come dressed as your favorite anime characters for a little "cosplay" action or enter your fashions in the Duct Tape Fashion Show.
Comic books, graphic novels and manga will also be featured for fans of the genre. Tokyopop and Viz Media have provided anime screeners for viewing. At the outdoor stage there will be local bands. There will be a performance of martial arts mastery of Kung Fu with Fremont 's Eagle Strike
The snack bar will sell nachos, hot pockets, cotton candy, fruit, sports drinks, Asian candy and pocky will be available as well. So much to do!
The entrance fee includes a goodie bag with some art items, booklets and a chance to win prizes every hour. It is $9 in advance and $12 at the door.
