Bang Zoom! Entertainment Teams with Starz Media's Manga Entertainment to Develop "Manga Minutes"
24-Episode Original Web Series Showcases and Reviews the Latest Anime, Manga and Video Games for Popular Manga.com Web Site
Burbank, Calif. and New York, NY, January 21, 2009 – Bang Zoom! Entertainment, a leading full-service audio post production company and producer of original entertainment content, was tapped recently to develop and produce a fun, new web-based show, “Manga Minutes” for Manga.com.
Manga.Com is the official site of Manga Entertainment, a leading publisher of anime titles such as
Astro Boy, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Blood: The Last Vampire, and many more. Bang Zoom! will produce 24 episodes of the show in total, which recently was ranked as high as #5 on the iTunes “Arts & Entertainment” chart.
Fifteen episodes are now available on Manga.com at www.manga.com/channels/manga-minutes
“Manga Minutes” features a duo of lively, animated hosts named Yoko and Rogue and showcases reviews of anime, manga, and video games from a variety of publishers. “Manga Minutes” complements Manga Entertainment's destination site, Manga.com, which features a unique blend of video, product-related information and other editorial content and offers fans a customized way to experience a wide range of manga and anime.
Bang Zoom! was given creative and critical license to select which titles to review and to develop a look for the show. “We did a lot of research as far as deciding what titles to feature,” says Bang Zoom! associate producer, Kevin Chu. “Considering the style of the Manga.com website and its users, we focused on finding unique properties that appealed to a core demographic of ardent fans. To-date we've focused on several cool action titles like Gurren Lagaan, Kite: Liberator, Claymore, Gantz, Ghost Slayers, Afro Samurai, xxxHOLiC and Dead Space. We make a point to stay in-tune with what titles people are talking about and fan feedback plays a big role in giving us ideas for future episodes.”
“We were very excited to have the opportunity to work with Starz Media and Manga Entertainment on 'Manga Minutes,'” says Eric P. Sherman, president of Bang Zoom! Entertainment. “Each episode is a snapshot of what's cool in the latest anime, manga and game titles and we look forward to continuing to develop the show.”
“We developed Manga.com as a place where fans could watch free anime clips, discuss anime culture, and find out about new video games and manga,” says David Katz, executive director, digital media of Starz Media's Manga Entertainment, which produces the site. “'Manga Minutes' gives our fans their dose of what's cool in anime, games and manga – all in two minutes. This unique and novel short-form programming fills a need in the marketplace and is one that we can easily distribute and syndicate to our distribution partners and reach an even wider audience.”
