Platform Animation Festival Announces Films and Installations
PLATFORM INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FILMS AND INSTALLATIONS SELECTED FOR COMPETITION
Selection Date Set for Internet and Mobile devices Competition
Portland, OR – April 10, 2007 – PLATFORM International Animation Festival Founder and Director Irene Kotlarz announced today the films and installations that have been selected for the competition debuting in Portland, Oregon, June 25-30, 2007.
“We are thrilled with the diversity and talent of the films that were submitted,” said Kotlarz. “We had to make some extremely tough decisions, but feel that the films that made the cut represent the best of the best.”

The International Selection Committees met over the last couple of months and viewed over 2,000 films and over 70 installations from more than 40 countries, in order to select work for screening in the competition. The committee members included award winning animators Laura Heit and Chris Hinton, Canadian born animator Rose Bond, experiential filmmaker David Curtis, New York independent animator George Griffin, and director of “Beavis & Butthead Do America” Yvette Kaplan.
The competition will be broken out in categories covering commercial and independent films, student animation and films for new platforms, including cell phones and internet. PLATFORM will be announcing the selection for internet, mobile devices and cell phones will be announced April 23, 2007. Winners of all the competitions will be announced during the closing ceremonies of the festival on June 30, 2007. In total, more than $50,000 will be awarded.
The PLATFORM International Animation Festival will be a literal platform for artists, innovation, and discussion. The Festival program will feature premieres and retrospectives, exclusive screenings, guest speakers, exhibitions, workshops with leading artists, parties and networking opportunities with industry insiders. It will also break boundaries into other art forms including comics, illustration, character and toy design, motion graphics, gallery art and live action cinema.
